سجلت بطولة كأس العالم 2026 المقامة حالياً في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا والمكسيك رقماً سلبياً غير مسبوق على مستوى البطاقات الحمراء مقارنة بالنسختين السابقتين من المونديال في روسيا 2018 وقطر 2022، إذ شهد المونديال الحالي 6 حالات طرد في دور المجموعات. ووفقًا لما نشره موقع «FIFA World Cup Stat» شهدت النسخة الحالية من كأس العالم ارتفاعًا ملحوظًا في عدد حالات الطرد خلال دور المجموعات، حيث أشهر الحكام 6 بطاقات حمراء حتى نهاية منافسات الجولة الثانية.
ويعد هذا الرقم الأعلى مقارنة بالنسختين الماضيتين، إذ شهد مونديال روسيا 2018 أربع بطاقات حمراء فقط طوال البطولة، وهو الرقم ذاته الذي سجلته نسخة قطر 2022.
