لم يكن وصول طائرة المنتخب الإسباني إلى مطار بويبلا الدولي مجرد هبوط عادي. كانت الساعة تشير إلى 7:00 مساءً بتوقيت المكسيك، 3:00 فجراً في مدريد، لكن الزمن لم يكن يعني شيئاً لعشرات المشجعين الذين افترشوا الصبر على أرصفة المطار.
ثلاث ساعات طيران من تشاتانوغا لم تطفئ الحماس. فور أن انفتح باب الطائرة، دوت هتافات «¡Vamos España!» في الممرات. أطفال يحملون أعلاماً صُنعت قبل ساعات، وآباء يرفعون أبناءهم ليروا «أبطالهم» عن قرب. المشهد يتكرر مع كل منتخب كبير، لكن مع إسبانيا... الأمر مختلف دائماً.
من المدرج إلى الفندق
القصة لم تنتهِ عند المطار. في فندق إقامة البعثة، كان مئات الأنصار قد حوّلوا محيطه إلى مدرج مفتوح. جاؤوا قبل ساعات، بعضهم يحمل لافتة كتب عليها: «آخر مرة زرتمونا 1986... انتظرناكم 40 سنة»، وما إن ظهرت حافلة الفريق حتى انفجر المكان، كبارا وصغارا، رجالا ونساء، يمدون أيديهم وأقلامهم وجوالاتهم لمصافحة اللاعبين والتقاط الصور.
بويبلا... ذاكرة لا تُنسى
هذه ليست الزيارة الأولى. في 22 يونيو 1986، لعب المنتخب الإسباني آخر مباراة له في هذه المدينة ضمن مونديال المكسيك. يومها كان كثير من الجمهور الواقف اليوم أطفالاً، أو لم يولدوا بعد. اليوم عادت إسبانيا، للمرة السابعة في تاريخها على الأراضي المكسيكية، لكن بويبلا تحتفظ بمكانة خاصة.
الاستعداد لمواجهة بيرو
ويختتم المنتخب الإسباني استعداداته بمواجهة نظيره البيروفي على أرضية ملعب «كواتيموك» في بويبلا، والذي يتسع لأكثر من 50 ألف متفرج، ويملك المنتخب الإسباني سجلاً مثالياً في مواجهاته السابقة أمام بيرو، حيث التقى المنتخبان في ثلاث مناسبات سابقة انتهت جميعها بفوز إسبانيا.
The arrival of the Spanish national team’s plane at Puebla International Airport was not just an ordinary landing. The clock showed 7:00 PM Mexico time, 3:00 AM in Madrid, but time meant nothing to the dozens of fans who spread their patience on the airport sidewalks.
Three hours of flight from Chattanooga did not dampen the enthusiasm. As soon as the plane's door opened, cheers of “¡Vamos España!” echoed in the aisles. Children holding flags made just hours before, and parents lifting their children to see their “heroes” up close. The scene is repeated with every major team, but with Spain... it’s always different.
From the stadium to the hotel
The story did not end at the airport. At the mission's hotel, hundreds of supporters had turned its surroundings into an open stadium. They arrived hours earlier, some holding a sign that read: “The last time you visited us was in 1986... we’ve waited 40 years for you,” and as soon as the team bus appeared, the place erupted, young and old, men and women, extending their hands, pens, and phones to shake hands with the players and take photos.
Puebla... an unforgettable memory
This is not the first visit. On June 22, 1986, the Spanish national team played its last match in this city during the Mexico World Cup. Many of the fans standing today were children back then, or were not even born yet. Today, Spain returned for the seventh time in its history to Mexican soil, but Puebla holds a special place.
Preparing for the match against Peru
The Spanish national team concludes its preparations with a match against its Peruvian counterpart on the pitch of the “Cuauhtémoc” Stadium in Puebla, which has a capacity of over 50,000 spectators. The Spanish team has an impeccable record in its previous encounters against Peru, having met three times before, all of which ended in victories for Spain.
