وفي خط الوسط، غابت أسماء لافتة مثل إيميليانو بوينديا لاعب أستون فيلا، وماكسيمو بيروني لاعب كومو، إضافة إلى الموهبة الشابة فرانكو ماستانتونو المرتبط بريال مدريد.
أما هجوميا، فقد خلت القائمة من جناح روما ماتياس سولي، وكذلك المهاجم الواعد جيانلوكا بريستياني لاعب بنفيكا، رغم المستويات المميزة التي قدمها أخيرا.
