تأهل فريق أرسنال الإنجليزي إلى دور ربع النهائي لدوري أبطال أوروبا بعد فوزه في لقاء الإياب على ضيفه باير ليفركوزن الألماني بهدفين دون مقابل (مجموع اللقاءين 3/1) في اللقاء الذي جمعهما على استاد الإمارات بالعاصمة الإنجليزية لندن في إياب دور ثمن نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا.
شهد اللقاء بداية قوية من الفريقين بحثاً عن حصد الفوز والتأهل بعد تعادلهما ذهاباً في ألمانيا بهدف لكل منهما بعد أن تقدم باير ليفركوزن أولاً عن طريق روبرت اندريخ قبل أن يدرك كاي هافيرتز هدف التعادل لأرسنال من ركلة جزاء، ولكن أرسنال تمكن من إحباط المحاولات الألمانية مستفيداً من عاملي الأرض والجمهور، وتمكن لاعبه ابريتشي إيزي من تسجيل هدف رائع بعد أن تلقى تمريرة من زميله لياندرو تروسارد ليسيطر إيزي على الكرة ويسددها من خارج منطقة الجزاء قوية لتسكن أعلى المرمى كهدف أول لأرسنال (د: 36)، وفي الشوط الثاني واصل الفريق اللندني هجومه وبذات الطريقة ولكن التسديدة كانت أرضية زاحفة، وتمكن أرسنال من تسجيل الهدف الثاني عن طريق ديكلان رايس (د: 63)، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز أرسنال 2/0 (مجموع اللقاءين 3/1).
وبهذه النتيجة يتأهل أرسنال للدور ربع النهائي لدوري أبطال أوروبا، فيما غادر باير ليفركوزن منافسات البطولة.
The English team Arsenal has qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after winning the second leg against their German guest Bayer Leverkusen with a score of two goals to none (aggregate score 3-1) in the match held at the Emirates Stadium in the English capital, London, in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
The match witnessed a strong start from both teams in search of victory and qualification after they drew in the first leg in Germany with one goal each, after Bayer Leverkusen initially took the lead through Robert Andrich before Kai Havertz equalized for Arsenal with a penalty kick. However, Arsenal managed to thwart the German attempts, benefiting from the home ground and the crowd. Arsenal's player, Eberechi Eze, scored a wonderful goal after receiving a pass from his teammate Leandro Trossard, controlling the ball and striking it powerfully from outside the penalty area to find the top of the net for Arsenal's first goal (36th minute). In the second half, the London team continued their attack in the same manner, but the shot was a low drive, and Arsenal managed to score the second goal through Declan Rice (63rd minute), ending the match with Arsenal winning 2-0 (aggregate score 3-1).
With this result, Arsenal qualifies for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, while Bayer Leverkusen exits the tournament.
