بدأ فريق النجمة اللقاء بثقة كبيرة وبادل مضيفه الأهلي الهجمات وتمكن لاعبه لازارو من إحراز الهدف الأول بعد مجهود فردي رائع (د: 27)، وقبل نهاية الشوط الأول تحصل الأهلي على ركلة جزاء سددها إيفان توني ولكن الحارس فيكتور براجا تمكن من التصدي لها لتعود الكرة لتوني ويسددها مجدداً ولكن براجا تألق مجدداً وأمسك بالكرة ليضيع توني أول ركلة جزاء له بقميص الأهلي.
