أعلن مدافع منتخب مصر السابق أيمن أشرف، اعتزاله كرة القدم بعد مسيرة حافلة بالإنجازات الجماعية في الملاعب.
وقال أيمن أشرف في تصريحات تلفزيونية: «قررت اعتزال كرة القدم وهو القرار الأصعب في حياتي، وذلك حفاظاً على صورتي أمام الجماهير المصرية بشكل عام وجماهير الأهلي بشكل خاص، والخروج من الباب الكبير».
وأضاف اللاعب صاحب الـ34 عاماً: «قلبي يعشق كرة القدم ويريد الاستمرار في الملاعب، لكن عقلي يرى أن قرار الاعتزال هو الأفضل حتى لا تهتز صورتي أمام الجماهير، بعد تلقي عروض غير مناسبة لاسمي وتاريخي».
وختم: «كرة القدم هي حياتي وسوف أفتقدها. بدايتي كانت داخل الأهلي وشاركت مع الفريق الأول، وفخور بصناعة تاريخ مشرف».

ولعب أيمن أشرف لأندية الأهلي وتليفونات بني سويف وسموحة والبنك الأهلي، وخلال مسيرته مع كافة الأندية خاض المدافع 366 مباراة، سجل خلالها 10 أهداف وقدم 12 تمريرة حاسمة، كما شارك مع منتخب مصر الأول في 32 لقاء.
على مستوى البطولات، حقق أيمن أشرف 13 لقباً جميعها مع الأهلي بحسب موقع «ترانسفير ماركت»، وهي الدوري المصري (6 مرات)، كأس مصر (مرة واحدة)، السوبر المصري (مرة واحدة)، دوري أبطال أفريقيا (3 مرات)، السوبر الأفريقي (مرتان).
Former Egypt national team defender Ayman Ashraf announced his retirement from football after a career full of collective achievements on the pitch.
Ayman Ashraf said in television statements: "I have decided to retire from football, which is the hardest decision of my life, in order to maintain my image in front of the Egyptian fans in general and Al Ahly fans in particular, and to leave through the big door."
The 34-year-old player added: "My heart loves football and wants to continue on the pitch, but my mind sees that retirement is the best decision so that my image does not get tarnished in front of the fans, after receiving offers that are not suitable for my name and history."
He concluded: "Football is my life, and I will miss it. My journey began at Al Ahly, and I participated with the first team, and I am proud to have made a glorious history."

Ayman Ashraf played for Al Ahly, Beni Suef Telephones, Smouha, and the National Bank, and during his career with all the clubs, the defender played 366 matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists, and he also participated with the Egypt national team in 32 matches.
In terms of titles, Ayman Ashraf won 13 titles, all with Al Ahly according to the "Transfermarkt" website, including the Egyptian League (6 times), the Egypt Cup (once), the Egyptian Super Cup (once), the African Champions League (3 times), and the African Super Cup (twice).
