وكان بنفيكا، بقيادة المدرب البرتغالي المخضرم جوزيه مورينيو، قد تفوق على ريال مدريد بنتيجة 4-2 في الجولة الأخيرة من مرحلة الدوري، الأربعاء الماضي، ليحرم الفريق الملكي من التأهل المباشر إلى دور الـ16.

The draw for the playoff round of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League has resulted in a new clash between Spanish club Real Madrid and Portuguese club Benfica.
Benfica, led by veteran Portuguese coach José Mourinho, defeated Real Madrid 4-2 in the last round of the group stage last Wednesday, denying the royal team direct qualification to the Round of 16.

The draw also placed Paris Saint-Germain, the defending champion of the last edition, in a strong matchup against their compatriot Monaco.

Dates for the First and Second Legs
The first leg matches will take place on February 17 and 18, while the second leg matches will be played on February 24 and 25 of the same month. The qualifiers will join the eight teams that secured their spots directly in the Round of 16, which are: Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon, and Manchester City.
