أنهت العاصمة الرياض استعداداتها لاستضافة النسخة الخامسة من ماراثون الرياض الدولي ٢٠٢٦، الذي ينظّمه الاتحاد السعودي للرياضة للجميع، ويقام في جامعة الأميرة نورة بنت عبد الرحمن خلال الفترة من ٢٨ إلى ٣١ يناير ٢٠٢٦، حيث تشهد هذه النسخة إطلاق "مهرجان ماراثون الرياض" للمرة الأولى، إلى جانب إقامة سباقات الماراثون المعتمدة.
وتنطلق الأربعاء -الموافق 28 يناير- فعاليات المهرجان، بالتعاون مع وزارة الرياضة والاتحاد السعودي لألعاب القوى، ويشهد المهرجان فعاليات ترفيهية متنوعة، تشمل عروضاً موسيقية حية، وفقرات استعراضية، وعروضاً تراثية وثقافية، وفقرات تفاعلية تناسب جميع الفئات العمرية، وتقام -داخل قرية السباق وعلى امتداد مناطق التجمع- بمشاركة فرق محلية وعالمية، في إطار يعزّز التفاعل المجتمعي ويثري تجربة الزوار.
وتُختتم فعاليات المهرجان في يومه الأخير، بإقامة سباقات الماراثون، التي تشمل 4 فئات رئيسية، تنطلق جميعها من داخل الجامعة، وهي: الماراثون الكامل (٤٢ كم)، ونصف الماراثون (٢١ كم)، وسباق ١٠ كم، وسباق ٥ كم المخصص للعائلات والمبتدئين، ضمن تجربة رياضية مجتمعية تستهدف مختلف الأعمار ومستويات اللياقة البدنية.
ويُقام سباقا ٥ و١٠ كلم بالكامل داخل شوارع حرم الجامعة، بينما تمتد مسارات سباقي ٢١ و٤٢ كلم خارج أسوارها، مرورًا بعدد من الطرق الرئيسية في شمال الرياض، تشمل أجزاء من طريق الأمير بدر بن عبدالمحسن بن عبدالعزيز، وطريق أنس بن مالك، وطريق أبي بكر الصديق الفرعي، وطريق عثمان بن عفان، وطريق الثمامة، على أن تكون نقطة النهاية لجميع السباقات داخل الجامعة.
وأوضحت اللجنة المنظمة للماراثون أنه سيتم إغلاق عدد من الطرق بشكل جزئي أو كلّي خلال فترات السباقات، وفقاً لكل مسار وزمنه، داعية مستخدمي الطرق المحيطة إلى التخطيط المسبق للرحلات والاطلاع على المسارات البديلة، مع التأكيد على إعادة فتح الطرق تدريجياً بعد انتهاء المنافسات.
كما دعت اللجنة المنظمة المشاركين والجمهور إلى استخدام قطار الرياض للوصول إلى موقع الفعالية، تجنبًا للازدحام المروري، مؤكدة أن محطة جامعة الأميرة نورة (PNU 2) تُعد الأقرب إلى قرية السباق ومناطق الفعاليات.
ويعد مهرجان ماراثون الرياض حدثاً رياضياً نوعياً يجسّد مفهوم الرياضة كأسلوب حياة، ضمن إطار يوازن بين تعزيز النشاط البدني وجودة الحياة، والحرص على تنظيم فعالية كبرى تراعي انسيابية الحركة وتقليل الازدحام، بما يضمن تجربة آمنة ومتكاملة للمشاركين والجمهور. ويأتي ذلك انعكاساً لاهتمام الاتحاد السعودي للرياضة للجميع واللجنة المنظمة بتقديم تجربة استثنائية وفق أعلى المعايير التنظيمية، إلى جانب استمرار اعتماد الماراثون من قبل الاتحاد الدولي لألعاب القوى (World Athletics) ضمن فئة سباقات النخبة للطرق (Elite Road Race) للعام الخامس على التوالي.
The capital city of Riyadh has completed its preparations to host the fifth edition of the Riyadh International Marathon 2026, organized by the Saudi Federation for Sports for All, which will take place at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University from January 28 to 31, 2026. This edition will witness the launch of the "Riyadh Marathon Festival" for the first time, alongside the holding of the approved marathon races.
The festival activities will kick off on Wednesday, January 28, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and the Saudi Athletics Federation. The festival will feature a variety of entertainment activities, including live musical performances, artistic segments, heritage and cultural shows, and interactive activities suitable for all age groups. These will take place within the race village and throughout the gathering areas, with the participation of local and international teams, in a framework that enhances community interaction and enriches the visitors' experience.
The festival's activities will conclude on its final day with the marathon races, which include four main categories, all starting from within the university. These are: the full marathon (42 km), the half marathon (21 km), the 10 km race, and the 5 km race designated for families and beginners, as part of a community sports experience targeting various ages and fitness levels.
The 5 km and 10 km races will take place entirely within the university campus streets, while the routes for the 21 km and 42 km races will extend outside its walls, passing through several main roads in northern Riyadh, including parts of Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen bin Abdulaziz Road, Anas bin Malik Road, Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Sub-Road, Uthman bin Affan Road, and Al-Thumama Road, with the finish line for all races located inside the university.
The organizing committee for the marathon has indicated that several roads will be partially or fully closed during the race periods, according to each route and its timing, urging users of the surrounding roads to plan their trips in advance and check alternative routes, while confirming that roads will gradually reopen after the competitions conclude.
The organizing committee also invited participants and the public to use the Riyadh Metro to reach the event site, in order to avoid traffic congestion, emphasizing that Princess Nourah University Station (PNU 2) is the closest to the race village and event areas.
The Riyadh Marathon Festival is a qualitative sporting event that embodies the concept of sports as a lifestyle, within a framework that balances promoting physical activity and quality of life, while ensuring the organization of a major event that considers the smooth flow of movement and reduces congestion, guaranteeing a safe and comprehensive experience for participants and the audience. This reflects the interest of the Saudi Federation for Sports for All and the organizing committee in providing an exceptional experience according to the highest organizational standards, alongside the continued recognition of the marathon by World Athletics as part of the elite road races for the fifth consecutive year.
