أعلنت اللجنة المحلية المنظمة لكأس العالم تحت 17 سنة FIFA، والاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، إطلاق التعويذة الرسمية للبطولة المستلهمة من شخصية المدرب الصربي الأسطوري فيليبور «بورا» ميلوتينوفيتش، مدرب كرة القدم الوحيد الذي شارك في 5 نسخ متتالية من كأس العالم مع 5 منتخبات مختلفة.
وتحمل التعويذة اسم طائر البومة باللغة العربية، والذي يعتبر رمزا للحكمة والرؤية الثاقبة والتوجيه الدقيق، وتشير بطريقة مرحة إلى بورا، الذي كان لمسيرته المهنية كمدرب ومكتشف للمواهب في عالم الساحرة المستديرة، تأثير واضح على تطوير كرة القدم في قطر وأنحاء العالم.

وقال في هذا السياق: «أكثر الأمور التي تجعلني أشعر بالرضا والإنجاز كمدرب، هي اكتشاف المواهب الناشئة، وتشجيع اللاعبين الصاعدين وتحفيزهم على التحلي بالشجاعة، والإيمان بقدرتهم على تحقيق أحلامهم، مع السعي المتواصل للانضمام إلى المنتخب الأول».
وأضاف: «تعتبر كأس العالم بطولة مميزة والأكثر أهمية في المشهد الكروي العالمي، وعادة ما يحلم اللاعبون الناشئون باللعب على أعلى مستوى، وتشكل مشاركتهم مع منتخب تحت 17 سنة الخطوة الأولى في هذه الرحلة، التي تتيح لهم مواجهة أفضل المنتخبات في العالم، والاحتكاك بمختلف المدارس الكروية، وتعلم مهارات جديدة، وبالتالي تقييم مستواهم وتحديد الجوانب التي تحتاج إلى تحسين وتطوير».

ويشتهر ميلوتينوفيتش باسم المدرب بورا، وقاد منتخبات المكسيك وكوستاريكا والولايات المتحدة ونيجيريا والصين في 5 بطولات كأس عالم متتالية بين الأعوام 1986 و2002، ما يعد إنجازا فريدا في تاريخ كرة القدم. وكان بورا قد تولى في عام 2004 تدريب نادي السد الذي يلعب في دوري نجوم قطر، وقاده للفوز بكأس الأمير في العام ذاته، كما ساهم في برامج تطوير كرة القدم في البلاد، مما جعله مصدر إلهام مثالي لتعويذة مونديال الناشئين قطر 2025.

The mascot is named after the owl in Arabic, which is considered a symbol of wisdom, keen vision, and precise guidance, and playfully refers to Bora, whose professional career as a coach and talent scout in the world of football has had a clear impact on the development of football in Qatar and around the world.
As anticipation builds for the youth World Cup in Qatar, which provides a platform for emerging football talents, the "Owl" mascot embodies Bora's pivotal role as one of the most prominent talent scouts in football, possessing a unique skill in uncovering hidden potential that other coaches and sports specialists may overlook, and refining it to help young players compete at the highest levels on the global football stage.
In a meeting with the local organizing committee, Bora spoke about his passion for nurturing the promising generation of football players and the importance of the U-17 World Cup in celebrating the stars of tomorrow and shining a light on them in a global football celebration.
He said in this context: "The most satisfying and fulfilling aspect of being a coach is discovering emerging talents, encouraging rising players, and motivating them to be brave and believe in their ability to achieve their dreams, while continuously striving to join the senior national team."
He added: "The World Cup is a special tournament and the most significant in the global football scene, and young players often dream of playing at the highest level. Their participation with the U-17 team is the first step in this journey, allowing them to face the best teams in the world, experience different football styles, learn new skills, and thus assess their level and identify areas that need improvement and development."
The U-17 World Cup represents a significant milestone in the global football scene, being the first edition to feature 48 teams for the first time in the history of World Cup tournaments, underscoring the growing importance of the event.
Regarding the significance of the tournament, Bora said: "In matches, we find that the team that scores more goals is the winner, but this is different with young players, as the outcome of matches often depends on their talent, inspiration, and high morale. I hope all players enjoy this edition of the U-17 World Cup because this is the most important factor in achieving success, especially in the U-17 category, as this experience helps them grow both personally and athletically."
Milutinović is famously known as Coach Bora, having led the national teams of Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Nigeria, and China in five consecutive World Cups between 1986 and 2002, which is a unique achievement in football history. Bora took over coaching Al Sadd Club, which plays in the Qatar Stars League, in 2004, leading them to win the Emir's Cup that same year, and he contributed to football development programs in the country, making him an ideal source of inspiration for the U-17 World Cup mascot in Qatar 2025.
The matches of the U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will take place at the Aspire Zone competition complex, the center of sporting excellence in Qatar and the region, featuring 104 matches with 8 matches daily, while Khalifa International Stadium will host the final match on November 27 at 7 PM Doha time.
Bora continued speaking about Aspire Zone: "Aspire Zone is a wonderful destination that includes some of the best sports facilities and venues in the world, and thus the U-17 World Cup matches will be held in ideal stadiums and under perfect conditions. The FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 is the first of five consecutive editions to be hosted by Qatar. As the first edition in the history of the World Cup to feature 48 teams, it will be the largest ever of the global youth tournament, which has previously seen the debut of global stars such as Gianluigi Buffon, Luís Figo, Xavi Hernández, Eden Hazard, Andrés Iniesta, Neymar, Ronaldinho, Son Heung-min, and Francesco Totti.
