أشاد المدرب البرتغالي سيرجيو كونسيساو بالروح القتالية لفريق نادي الاتحاد بعد أن نجح في قلب تأخره المبكر إلى فوز كبير بنتيجة 4-1 على الشرطة العراقي في إطار دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة 2025-2026.
فعلى استاد المدينة الدولي، وجد بطل دوري المحترفين السعودي نفسه متأخراً بهدف سجّله باسم شاكر، قبل أن ينتفض الفريق ويقلب الموازين بفضل هدف التعادل من موسى ديابي في الدقيقة 17، ثم هدف التقدّم من فابينيو بعد 12 دقيقة فقط.
ورغم النقص العددي إثر طرد دانيلو بيريرا في الدقيقة 50، أظهر الاتحاد تماسكاً كبيراً، حيث أضاف حسام عوار هدفين ليقود فريقه إلى فوزه الأول في مشواره القاري هذا الموسم.
وفي أول مباراة له على الساحة القارية، أكد كونسيساو أن مهمته المباشرة تتمثل في تحفيز لاعبيه ورفع معنوياتهم.
وقال المدرب البرتغالي: «نحن سعداء بتحقيق فوزنا الأول في دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة، وسنسعى إلى التطور وتجنّب الأخطاء في المباريات القادمة. الهدف الذي استقبلناه في بداية المباراة منحنا الدافع للعودة وتحقيق الانتصار، لم أشعر بالتوتر، بل حاولت أن أتحلى بالحماس لتحفيز اللاعبين، والأهم هو الفوز، خصوصاً أننا كنّا الطرف الأفضل في معظم فترات المباراة».
The Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao praised the fighting spirit of the Al-Ittihad team after they managed to turn an early deficit into a significant victory with a score of 4-1 against the Iraqi Police in the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League.
At the International City Stadium, the Saudi Professional League champions found themselves trailing after a goal scored by Basem Shakir, before the team rallied and turned the tide thanks to an equalizer from Moussa Diaby in the 17th minute, followed by a go-ahead goal from Fabinho just 12 minutes later.
Despite being down to ten men after Danilo Pereira was sent off in the 50th minute, Al-Ittihad showed great resilience, as Hossam Aouar added two goals to lead his team to their first victory in their continental campaign this season.
In his first match on the continental stage, Conceicao confirmed that his immediate task is to motivate his players and boost their morale.
The Portuguese coach said: "We are happy to achieve our first win in the elite AFC Champions League, and we will strive to improve and avoid mistakes in the upcoming matches. The goal we conceded at the beginning of the match gave us the motivation to come back and achieve victory. I didn't feel nervous; instead, I tried to be enthusiastic to motivate the players. The most important thing is the win, especially since we were the better side for most of the match."
