اعترف رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم ياسر المسحل برفعهم في اتحاد الكرة قضايا ضد عدد من الإعلاميين، مشيراً إلى أن السبب الرئيسي وراء الشكاوى هو التمادي في الإساءات ضد منسوبي اتحاد الكرة، على حد وصفه.
كما كشف المسحل خلال حديث فضائي مع برنامج «في الصورة» الذي يقدمه الإعلامي عبدالله المديفر أنهم كانوا في مفاوضات مع المدرب البرتغالي جورجي جيسوس لقيادة المنتخب السعودي قبل عودته لتدريب للهلال، لكنه كان يفضل تدريب الأندية على المنتخبات.
كما أكد أن الفرنسي هيرفي رينارد مستمر في قيادة المنتخب السعودي حتى نهاية مونديال 2026.
وأكد ياسر المسحل أنه لم يكن يفكر في الاستقالة من منصبه حال فشل المنتخب السعودي في التأهل إلى كأس العالم، مرجعاً ذلك إلى ثقته في لاعبي الأخضر وقدرتهم على حجز البطاقة المؤهلة للصعود إلى المونديال.
كما تطرق رئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم إلى مسألة تجنيس لاعبين لتمثيل المنتخب السعودي، مشيراً إلى أن تلك الفكرة غير مطروحة للنقاش في الوقت الحالي.
The President of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Mashel, admitted that they have filed cases against several media figures, pointing out that the main reason behind the complaints is the continued insults directed at the members of the Football Federation, as he described.
Al-Mashel also revealed during a televised interview with the program "In the Picture," hosted by media figure Abdullah Al-Mudayfer, that they were in negotiations with Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus to lead the Saudi national team before he returned to coach Al-Hilal, but he preferred coaching clubs over national teams.
He also confirmed that French coach Hervé Renard will continue to lead the Saudi national team until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
Yasser Al-Mashel emphasized that he was not considering resigning from his position if the Saudi national team failed to qualify for the World Cup, attributing this to his confidence in the players of the Green Team and their ability to secure a qualifying spot for the World Cup.
He also addressed the issue of naturalizing players to represent the Saudi national team, indicating that this idea is not currently up for discussion.
