Al-Taawoun tore through their guest Damak with a "half dozen" goals to just one, achieving their biggest result in the Roshan Saudi Professional League, in the match that took place this evening (Sunday) at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah, as part of the fifth round.
The goals for Al-Taawoun were scored by Walid Al-Ahmad (11'), Sultan Mandash (13'), Moroccan Jamal Harkas (own goal 53'), Rogeiro Martinez (68'), Bassam Al-Hariji (87'), and Roman Vejvoda (88'), while Damak's goal was scored by Valentina Fada (31'). The match also saw two players from Damak receive red cards: Haza'a Al-Ghamdi (40') and David Kayki (59').
The match witnessed a strong start for Al-Taawoun, who scored two consecutive goals in the first quarter of the match. Al-Taawoun earned a free kick, and the ball reached striker Rogeiro Martinez, who struck it powerfully, hitting the post, where it found Walid Al-Ahmad, who shot it directly into the net (11'). Just two minutes later, Sultan Mandash made his mark after a fantastic effort from Martinez, who surged down the left side and delivered a low cross that the defense failed to clear, allowing Mandash to strike it powerfully into the net for Al-Taawoun's second goal (13'). Although Damak managed to reduce the score through a brilliant effort from Dhari Al-Anzi, who crossed the ball to his teammate Valentina Fada, who did not hesitate to shoot it into the net for Damak (31'), Haza'a Al-Ghamdi of Damak received a direct red card before the end of the first half, which concluded with a score of 2-1 in favor of Al-Taawoun.
In the second half, Damak's struggles increased, as they conceded a goal "from friendly fire" through their defender Jamal Harkas. Then, their player David Kayki received a red card, leaving them to finish the match with 9 players. Martinez then crowned his efforts by scoring the fourth goal for Al-Taawoun (68'), followed by substitute Bassam Al-Hariji scoring the fifth goal (87'), and just one minute later, substitute Roman Vejvoda concluded the scoring spree (88'), ending the match with a victory for Al-Taawoun 6-1.
With this result, Al-Taawoun achieves their fourth consecutive victory, reaching 12 points, and will face their host Al-Fayha in the next round, while Damak suffers their fourth defeat, remaining at just one point, and will face their host Al-Shabab in the upcoming round.
