The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Counselor Turki Al-Sheikh, crowned the Italian star Jannik Sinner (ranked second in the world) last night (Saturday) after his victory over his Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz (ranked first in the world) in the "Six Kings Slam 2025" championship, following a match filled with challenge and excitement that witnessed a large audience, led by Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari, Governor of the Public Investment Fund Yasser Al-Rumayyan, and the President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, Engineer Amin Nasser.
The ANB Arena hosted one of the most prominent tennis tournaments in the world as part of the "Riyadh Season" activities over three days, with all tickets sold out early, and it enjoyed live broadcasting via the "Netflix" platform to more than 300 million subscribers worldwide, reaffirming Riyadh's status as a leading global destination for hosting major international events.
Italian Jannik Sinner was crowned the title of "Six Kings Slam 2025" along with the "Golden Racket" made of 24-carat gold specifically for this championship from the Riyadh Season, which was presented to him by Yasser Al-Rumayyan after his victory over Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in an exciting final with a score of two sets to none (6-2, 6-4). With this victory, Sinner became the first player to win the championship title twice in history and the first player to win it without losing any sets throughout the competition, confirming his superiority in his renewed encounters with Alcaraz.
Sinner delivered a complete performance that combined power, calmness, and confidence, benefiting from his high serving accuracy and his excellent response to long balls, while Alcaraz attempted to make a comeback in the second set but failed to break his Italian rival's dominance.
In the match for the third and fourth places in the tournament, American Taylor Fritz (ranked fourth in the world) secured third place after winning the first set against Serbian Novak Djokovic (ranked fifth in the world) with a score of (7-6), before the latter withdrew due to ongoing physical issues.
The first set witnessed fierce competition that lasted 75 minutes, during which the players exchanged breaks and responses, as Djokovic saved 9 break points while missing 4 opportunities to clinch the set in the 10th game, before Fritz managed to finish it in his favor after a long battle that peaked in the tiebreak.
In statements after the match, Djokovic said that the encounter was "one of the longest sets I have ever played," noting that he preferred to withdraw out of respect for his body and in preparation for upcoming competitions, while Fritz expressed his happiness at achieving third place in a tournament he described as one of the most distinguished experiences in his career.
The tournament kicked off on Wednesday with a stunning holographic show that combined modern technology with visual spectacle, before the opening day witnessed Taylor Fritz's victory over Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner's qualification after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas, amid significant audience interaction that conveyed the enthusiastic atmosphere to the world via Netflix.
On the second day, the level of challenge intensified with the entry of Alcaraz and Djokovic into the competition; Alcaraz delivered a balanced performance that enabled him to overcome Taylor Fritz in straight sets, while Sinner continued to shine and eliminated Serbian Novak Djokovic in a strong encounter, setting up a new meeting with his Spanish rival in a repeat final for the second consecutive year.
The final featured a historically significant matchup, as the players (Alcaraz and Sinner) faced each other in five finals during 2025, with the Riyadh final being their sixth encounter this year in one of the most prominent tennis tournaments in modern times. Alcaraz is characterized by physical strength and offensive speed, while Sinner relies on precision and tactical calm, which has made each encounter between them unique and decided by very narrow margins.
Their matchups have become some of the most prominent competitions in tennis, as each player pushes the other to elevate their level, delivering high-quality matches both tactically and mentally, and many consider them the future of global tennis, making the Riyadh final one of the most anticipated matches of the 2025 season.
