قلب منتخبنا الوطني للناشئين لكرة القدم الطاولة على منتخب قطر صاحب الأرض والجمهور بهدفين لهدف، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد حمد الكبير بقطر، في نصف نهائي كأس الخليج تحت 17 عاماً، ليتأهل منتخبنا الوطني للمباراة النهائية بحدارة واستحقاق.
شهد اللقاء سيطرة متبادلة من المنتخبين، وكان الأخضر السعودي هو الأفضل لولا سوء الطالع الذي لاحق لاعبيه، فمن ركلة زاوية تمكن آدم رياض لاعب قطر من تسجيل الهدف الأول لمنتخب بلاده (د: 28)، وحاول لاعبو الأخضر العودة للمباراة إلا إن هجمة مرتدة لقطر عقّدت الأمور بعد أن تعرض الحارس عبدالرحمن العتيبي للطرد بعد أن خرج من مرماه لإيقاف الهجمة المرتدة، ولكنه احتك بلاعب قطر فيصل سعيد، ليمنح الحكم الكويتي مصطفى الشطي البطاقة الحمراء لحارس منتخبنا الوطني، ليكمل الأخضر اللقاء بعشرة لاعبين منذ الدقيقة 44 من الشوط الأول.
وفي الشوط الثاني قلب نجوم الأخضر الطاولة في 5 دقائق بعد أن قام المدرب الوطني عبدالوهاب الحربي بعدة تغييرات، أهمها إشراك محمد الخلف الذي أحرز هدف التعادل بمجرد دخوله أرضية الملعب إذ تلاعب وليد النور بالدفاع القطري ولعب كرة عرضية أرضية ليسددها الخلف مباشرةً وقوية في المرمى القطري كهدف أول وتعادل للمنتخب السعودي (د: 82)، وبعد 3 دقائق فقط ضاعف عبدالرحمن سفياني النتيجة بعد أن سيطر على الكرة على حدود منطقة الجزاء ليتلاعب بالدفاع القطري ويسدد كرة قوية بقدمه اليسرى لتسكن الشباك في الزاوية البعيدة كهدف ثانٍ لمنتخبنا الوطني (د: 85)، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز منتخبنا الوطني بهدفين لهدف ويتأهل لنهائي كأس الخليج تحت 17 عاماً.

Our national under-17 table tennis team turned the tables on the host team, Qatar, with a score of two to one, in the match held at Hamad Al-Kabeer Stadium in Qatar, in the semi-finals of the Gulf Cup under 17. This victory qualifies our national team for the final match with skill and merit.
The match witnessed mutual control from both teams, with the Saudi Green being the better side, were it not for the bad luck that followed their players. From a corner kick, Adam Riyad, a Qatari player, managed to score the first goal for his team (28'). The players of the Green tried to return to the match, but a counter-attack from Qatar complicated matters after goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi was sent off for leaving his goal to stop the counter-attack. He collided with Qatari player Faisal Saeed, prompting Kuwaiti referee Mustafa Al-Shatti to issue a red card to our national team's goalkeeper, leaving the Green to complete the match with ten players since the 44th minute of the first half.
In the second half, the stars of the Green turned the tables in just 5 minutes after national coach Abdulwahab Al-Harbi made several substitutions, the most important of which was bringing in Mohammed Al-Khalaf, who scored the equalizing goal as soon as he entered the field. Walid Al-Noor outmaneuvered the Qatari defense and delivered a low cross that Al-Khalaf struck directly and powerfully into the Qatari net for the first goal and equalizer for the Saudi team (82'). Just three minutes later, Abdulrahman Sufiani doubled the score after he controlled the ball at the edge of the penalty area, danced around the Qatari defense, and shot a powerful ball with his left foot into the far corner of the net for the second goal for our national team (85'). The match ended with our national team winning two to one, qualifying for the final of the Gulf Cup under 17.
