فرض منتخب اليابان (حامل اللقب) اسمه في نهائيات كأس آسيا تحت 23 عاماً التي ستقام في المملكة العربية السعودية بعد فوزه القوي على الكويت 6-1 اليوم (الثلاثاء) على استاد ثوونا في يانغون، ضمن الجولة الثالثة (الأخيرة) من منافسات المجموعة الثانية في تصفيات كأس آسيا تحت 23 عاماً 2026.
وسجل توكومو كاواي (د:19 و40 و56) وأوتشي نواديكي (د:32 من ضربة جزاء) وريونوسوكي يادا (د:42) والبديل كيسوكي غوتو (د:90+4) أهداف اليابان، في حين أحرز أحمد بودي (د:10) هدف الكويت.
وشهدت المباراة الثانية ضمن المجموعة ذاتها، فوز أفغانستان على ميانمار المضيفة 2-1 على الملعب نفسه، وسجل معروف محمدي (د:18) وياسر صافي (د:70) هدفي أفغانستان، في حين أحرز سوان هتيت (د:40) هدف ميانمار.
وتصدر منتخب اليابان ترتيب المجموعة برصيد 9 نقاط كاملة من ثلاث مباريات، مقابل 4 نقاط للكويت، و3 لأفغانستان، ونقطة لميانمار.
وحصل المنتخب الياباني على بطاقة التأهل المباشر إلى النهائيات عن المجموعة، في حين ينتظر منتخب الكويت تحديد أفضل أربعة منتخبات حاصلة على المركز الثاني.

The Japanese national team (the defending champions) has established its name in the final of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia, after a strong victory over Kuwait 6-1 today (Tuesday) at Thuwanna Stadium in Yangon, in the third (final) round of the group stage of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers.
Goals for Japan were scored by Tokumo Kawai (19', 40', and 56'), Ouchi Nodaiki (32' from a penalty), Ryonosuke Yada (42'), and substitute Kisuki Goto (90+4'), while Ahmad Bodi (10') scored for Kuwait.
In the second match of the same group, Afghanistan defeated the host Myanmar 2-1 at the same stadium, with goals from Ma'ruf Mohammadi (18') and Yasser Safi (70') for Afghanistan, while Suan Htite (40') scored for Myanmar.
Japan topped the group standings with a total of 9 points from three matches, compared to 4 points for Kuwait, 3 for Afghanistan, and 1 for Myanmar.
The Japanese team secured a direct qualification ticket to the finals from the group, while the Kuwaiti team awaits the determination of the best four second-placed teams.
