على ملعب مولينيو، افتتح مانشستر سيتي مشواره بفوز قوي ومستحق على مضيفه وولفر هامبتون برباعية نظيفة، وشهد اللقاء سيطرة مبكرة للسيتي وتمكن من إحراز أول الأهداف بعد كرة عرضية أرضية من ريكو لويس ليضعها المهاجم إيرلينغ هالاند في الشباك (د:34)، وبعد مرور ثلاث دقائق فقط أضاف السيتي الهدف الثاني عن طريق تيجاني ريندرز الذي سدد كرة أرضية على يمين الحارس جوزيه سا (د:37)، وفي الشوط الثاني أضاف مانشستر سيتي هدفين عن طريق إيرلينغ هالاند (د:61) وريان شرقي (د:81)، لينتهي اللقاء لمصلحة السيتي برباعية نظيفة.
وعلى ملعبه وبين جماهيره قاد المهاجم البرازيلي ريتشارليسون فريقه توتنهام هوتسبير للفوز على ضيفه بيرنلي بإحرازه هدفين من الأهداف الثلاثة في الدقيقتين 10 و60 مستفيداً من تمريرتين حاسمتين لزميله الغاني محمد قدوس المنضم حديثاً لصفوف الفريق خلال الصيف الجاري، فيما أحرز زميله برينان جونسون الهدف الثالث في الدقيقة 60، لينتصر توتنهام بثلاثة أهداف دون مقابل، ويحصد الفريق اللندني أول ثلاث نقاط في الموسم تحت قيادة مدربه الدانماركي توماس فرانك.
وبهذا الفوز القوي تجاوز توتنهام صدمة خسارة لقب السوبر الأوروبي بركلات الترجيح أمام باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي الأربعاء الماضي، ورفع معنوياته أيضاً قبل اختبار صعب خارج ملعبه في الجولة القادمة أمام مانشستر سيتي.
