شهد محافظ جدة الأمير سعود بن عبدالله بن جلوي، المباراة الافتتاحية وحفل افتتاح بطولة كأس آسيا لكرة السلة للرجال في نسختها الـ(31) المقامة بمدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية بجدة، بحضور رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة السلة الشيخ سعود بن علي آل ثاني، ووكيل وزارة الرياضة لشؤون الرياضة والشباب عبدالعزيز المسعد، والرئيس التنفيذي والأمين العام للجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية عبدالعزيز باعشن، ورئيس الاتحاد السعودي لكرة السلة الدكتور غسان طاشكندي، ومدير فرع وزارة الرياضة بمنطقة مكة المكرمة عبدالعزيز بن عبود، وعدد من المسؤولين.
وشهدت المواجهة بين المنتخب السعودي والصيني خلال شوطي اللقاء حفل الافتتاح الرسمي للبطولة، التي تستمر حتى (17) أغسطس الجاري، بمشاركة (16) منتخبًا يتنافسون على اللقب القاري، بتنظيم من الاتحاد الدولي لكرة السلة (FIBA Asia).
وتضمن الحفل عرضًا ضوئيًا ثلاثي الأبعاد وبصريًا مميزًا يدمج بين الإضاءة والتقنيات البصرية لإبراز هوية الحدث، إلى جانب عرض أكروباتي احترافي، وعرض حركي، إضافة إلى فقرة ترفيهية شملت عرضا تفاعليا للجمهور.
وتُعد بطولة كأس آسيا لكرة السلة من أبرز البطولات القارية، إذ يشارك في البطولة إلى جانب المملكة العربية السعودية بصفتها الدولة المستضيفة، منتخبات أستراليا (حاملة اللقب مرتين متتاليتين)، واليابان، والأردن، ولبنان، ونيوزيلندا، والفلبين، والهند، والصين تايبيه، والعراق، وغوام، وقطر، وإيران، وكوريا الجنوبية، والصين، وسورية التي تأهلت من خلال نتائجها في التصفيات التمهيدية.
ووُزعت المنتخبات المشاركة على (4) مجموعات، ويتأهل متصدرو المجموعات الأربع مباشرة إلى ربع النهائي، بينما تخوض الفرق التي تحتل المركزين الثاني والثالث ملحق التأهل.
وتضم المجموعة الأولى للبطولة منتخبات: قطر وأستراليا وكوريا الجنوبية ولبنان، فيما تضم المجموعة الثانية منتخبات غوام واليابان وسورية وإيران، والثالثة تضم الصين والأردن والهند والسعودية الدولة المستضيفة للبطولة، فيما تضم المجموعة الرابعة كلا من الصين تايبيه ونيوزيلندا والعراق والفلبين.

The Governor of Jeddah, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, witnessed the opening match and the opening ceremony of the 31st edition of the FIBA Asia Men's Basketball Cup held at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, in the presence of the President of the International Basketball Federation, Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports for Youth and Sports Affairs, Abdulaziz Al-Mas'ad, the CEO and Secretary-General of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Abdulaziz Ba'ashan, the President of the Saudi Basketball Federation, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, the Director of the Ministry of Sports branch in the Makkah region, Abdulaziz bin Aboud, and several officials.
The match between the Saudi and Chinese teams witnessed the official opening ceremony of the tournament, which will continue until August 17, with the participation of 16 teams competing for the continental title, organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA Asia).
The ceremony included a distinctive three-dimensional light and visual show that combined lighting and visual technologies to highlight the event's identity, in addition to a professional acrobatic performance, a movement show, and an entertainment segment that included an interactive presentation for the audience.
The FIBA Asia Basketball Cup is one of the most prominent continental tournaments, with the participation of, alongside the host country Saudi Arabia, teams from Australia (the two-time defending champion), Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, New Zealand, the Philippines, India, Chinese Taipei, Iraq, Guam, Qatar, Iran, South Korea, China, and Syria, which qualified through its results in the preliminary qualifiers.
The participating teams were divided into four groups, with the top teams from each group qualifying directly for the quarter-finals, while the teams finishing in second and third places will compete in a qualification playoff.
Group A of the tournament includes the teams: Qatar, Australia, South Korea, and Lebanon, while Group B includes Guam, Japan, Syria, and Iran. Group C includes China, Jordan, India, and the host country Saudi Arabia, while Group D includes Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Iraq, and the Philippines.
