Istiklol of Tajikistan defeated their guest Goa of India 2-0 today (Wednesday) at the Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, in the second round of Group B matches in the AFC Champions League 2025-2026.

Istiklol's goals were scored by Rustam Suerov (46') and Reza Dighani (74').

Istiklol managed to open the scoring at the beginning of the second half after Suerov took advantage of a defensive misunderstanding between captain Sandesh Jhingan and Moreno, firing a powerful shot that kissed the upper left corner of Goa's net (46'). The Indian team tried to respond quickly, but consecutive attempts from Javier Siverio and Brison Fernandes in the 55th minute missed the target.

In the 74th minute, substitute Reza Dighani added the second goal after following up on a rebound from Rahimov's attempt and unleashing a powerful shot from outside the area that settled in the net. Goa continued their efforts to reduce the deficit until the last moments, but Diyan Dragić's shot in the final minute amidst a crowded penalty area went over the crossbar, ending the match with a well-deserved victory for the home team.

With this result, Istiklol of Tajikistan earns their first points, tying with Al-Zawraa of Iraq, whom they will face in the next round, while Goa remains at the bottom (fourth) without any points and will face the leader (Al-Nassr) in the next round.
