أعلن أسطورة نادي ليفربول جون بارنز إفلاسه بعد تراكم ديون على شركته بقيمة 1.5 مليون جنيه إسترليني.
وكان بارنز أكد في وقت سابق، أنه يدفع لمصلحة الضرائب 10 آلاف جنيه إسترليني شهرياً.
ونشرت صحيفة «لندن غازيت» إشعار الإفلاس، الذي ذكر اسمه الكامل (جون تشارلز برايان بارنز) بعد التماس قدمته هيئة الإيرادات والجمارك البريطانية (HMRC) في أوائل أغسطس.
و أمضى بارنز السنوات الثماني الماضية في سداد ديون هيئة الإيرادات والجمارك البريطانية.
تصريحات بارنز عن أزمته
وفي ظهوره على البودكاست «All Things Business»، قال بارنز عن تأثير مشاكله المالية عليه: «باستثناء بعض الليالي التي لم أنم فيها، لم يكن لذلك تأثير كبير عليّ، لأنك تنظر إلى الطريقة التي يسير بها العالم».
وأضاف: «مثل العديد من الرياضيين النخبة، تعرضت للأذى لأنني وثقت بالناس، وتم القبض علي عدة مرات وانتهى بي الأمر بخسارة ما بين مليون ومليون ونصف مليون جنيه إسترليني على مدار أربع سنوات».
محطات سابقة مع الإفلاس
واجه الجناح السابق لليفربول والمنتخب الإنجليزي، الذي شارك في 79 مباراة دولية مع منتخب إنجلترا، طلبات إفلاس متعددة منذ 2010.
ويشمل ذلك واحداً في 2023 بشأن فاتورة ضريبية شخصية بقيمة 238 ألف جنيه إسترليني تمت تسويتها في اللحظة الأخيرة.
Liverpool club legend John Barnes has declared himself bankrupt after accumulating debts of £1.5 million on his company.
Barnes had previously confirmed that he was paying the tax authorities £10,000 a month.
The "London Gazette" published the bankruptcy notice, which mentioned his full name (John Charles Bryan Barnes) following a petition filed by the UK’s HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in early August.
Barnes has spent the last eight years repaying debts to HM Revenue and Customs.
Barnes' Statements About His Crisis
In his appearance on the podcast "All Things Business," Barnes spoke about the impact of his financial troubles on him: "Except for some nights when I couldn’t sleep, it hasn’t had a huge effect on me, because you look at the way the world is going."
He added: "Like many elite athletes, I was hurt because I trusted people, and I was arrested several times and ended up losing between one million and one and a half million pounds over four years."
Previous Bankruptcy Incidents
The former winger for Liverpool and the England national team, who made 79 international appearances for England, has faced multiple bankruptcy petitions since 2010.
This includes one in 2023 regarding a personal tax bill of £238,000 that was settled at the last minute.
