قاد الإنجليزي ماركوس راشفورد نجم برشلونة الإسباني فريقه لتجاوز مضيفه نيوكاسل يونايتد الإنجليزي بإحرازه هدفين، في اللقاء الذي انتهى لمصلحة برشلونة (2/ 1) وأقيم على ملعب سانت جيمس بارك ضمن الجولة الأولى من دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وسجل ماركوس راشفورد هدفي برشلونة (د: 58، 67)، بينما أحرز أنتوني جوردون هدف نيوكاسل الوحيد (د: 90).
شهد اللقاء بداية قوية لفريق نيوكاسل يونايتد، ولعب السويدي أنتوني إيلانغا كرة عرضية سددها هارفي بارنز لكن الحارس جوان غارسيا أبعدها (د: 24)، وحاول برشلونة بدوره الرد عبر رافينيا، من ركلة حرة ولكن كرته ذهبت فوق العارضة، لينتهي الشوط الأول بالتعادل السلبي.
ومع بداية الشوط الثاني واصل أصحاب الأرض اندفاعهم، لكن برشلونة تمكن من مباغتة نيوكاسل بعد أن افتتح راشفورد التسجيل برأسية إثر عرضية من الفرنسي جول كونديه (د: 58)، وأضاف راشفورد الهدف الثاني بطريقة رائعة، حين استلم كرة وانطلق بها وسددها من وضعية صعبة على يمين الحارس نيك بوب، فارتطمت بالعارضة ودخلت مرماه (د: 67).
ورغم محاولات نيوكاسل عبر جيمارايش وميرفي، نجح الضيوف في الصمود حتى الدقيقة 90، حين قلص جوردون النتيجة بلمسة في شباك البلوجرانا. لكن برشلونة حافظ على تقدمه حتى النهاية، ليعود بانتصار ثمين من إنجلترا.

The Englishman Marcus Rashford, star of Spanish club Barcelona, led his team to overcome their host Newcastle United with two goals, in a match that ended in favor of Barcelona (2-1) and took place at St. James' Park as part of the first round of the UEFA Champions League.
Marcus Rashford scored both goals for Barcelona (min: 58, 67), while Anthony Gordon netted Newcastle's only goal (min: 90).
