قاد المهاجم الفرنسي كيليان مبابي فريقه ريال مدريد الإسباني إلى فوز صعب على ضيفه مرسيليا الفرنسي بهدفين لهدف، في الجولة الأولى من دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وتقدم مرسيليا عبر الأمريكي تيموتي وياه (د:22) ورد ريال بهدفين لنجمه مبابي من ركلتي جزاء (د:29، 81)، وأكمل ريال المباراة بعشرة لاعبين إثر طرد قائده داني كارفاخال (د:72).
وشهد اللقاء سيطرة مبكرة لريال مدريد وحرم القائم الأيسر الأرجنتيني فرانكو ماستانتونو من افتتاح التسجيل برده تسديدته من مسافة قريبة (د:6)، وتمكن مارسيليا من تسجيل الهدف الأول بعد أن مرر الإنجليزي مايسون غرينوود الكرة إلى تيموتي وياه ليسددها قوية بيمناه على يسار العملاق البلجيكي تيبو كورتوا (د:22)، واستطاع ريال مدريد أن يعود للقاء بعد أن تحصل على ركلة جزاء إثر عرقلة رودريغو من لاعب مارسيليا جيوفري كوندوغبيا، فانبرى لها مبابي وسددها بنجاح على يمين رولي (د:29).
وفي الشوط الثاني حرمت العارضة مبابي من هدف إثر تسديدة زاحفة من خارج منطقة الجزاء، وفي الدقيقة 72 تحصل داني كارفاخال على بطاقة حمراء مباشرة لضربه حارس مارسيليا رولي برأسه دون كرة، ورغم النقص إلا أن ريال مدريد واصل هجومه وتمكن من الحصول على ركلة جزاء ثانية بعد أن لمست الكرة يد المدافع الأرجنتيني فاكوندو ميدينا، ليتقدم مبابي مجدداً ويسددها بنجاح هدفاً ثانياً لريال مدريد (د:81)، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز الفريق الإسباني بهدفين لهدف.

The French striker Kylian Mbappé led his team Real Madrid to a hard-fought victory over their French guest Marseille with a score of two to one in the first round of the UEFA Champions League.
Marseille took the lead through American Timothy Weah (22'), and Real responded with two goals from their star Mbappé via penalty kicks (29', 81'). Real Madrid finished the match with ten players after their captain Dani Carvajal was sent off (72').
The match witnessed an early dominance from Real Madrid, and the left post denied Argentine Franco Mastantuono from opening the scoring by deflecting his shot from close range (6'). Marseille managed to score the first goal after Englishman Mason Greenwood passed the ball to Timothy Weah, who struck it powerfully with his right foot to the left of Belgian giant Thibaut Courtois (22'). Real Madrid was able to come back into the match after being awarded a penalty kick due to a foul on Rodrygo by Marseille player Geoffrey Kondogbia. Mbappé stepped up and successfully converted it to the right of Rulli (29').
In the second half, the crossbar denied Mbappé a goal from a low shot outside the penalty area. In the 72nd minute, Dani Carvajal received a straight red card for headbutting Marseille goalkeeper Rulli without the ball.
