The German coach Hansi Flick launched a strong attack on the management of the Spanish national team regarding their treatment of his player Lamine Yamal, during the press conference he held today (Saturday) before facing his guest Valencia tomorrow (Sunday) at exactly ten o'clock at night, as part of the fourth round of the Spanish league.
Hansi Flick said in the press conference, which was broadcast by Barcelona's official site on the platform "X": "The young player Lamine Yamal will not be available; he underwent tests and will not be available against Valencia, and there are doubts about his participation against Newcastle in the Champions League on Thursday. For me, this is unfortunate; he went to the national team while suffering from pain, did not train, and took painkillers to play. In every match, they were ahead by three goals or more; he played 79 and 73 minutes, and between matches, he did not train."
Flick added angrily: "This is not taking care of the players. Spain has the best team in the world and the best players in the world. In every position, they are incredibly good. Perhaps when we want to take care of young players, it should be like this, doing this... I am very saddened by this."
Flick stated that he spoke briefly with Spain's coach Luis de la Fuente via text message, but their communication could be improved: "Perhaps it’s all about my Spanish not being good, and his English not being good. Communication... could be better. I was also on this side, as a national team coach, and I know how difficult this task is, but communication with the clubs has always been good."
The coach confirmed that Frenkie de Jong will also miss the match against Valencia, but midfielder Marc Bernal is ready to return to the team for the first time since suffering a long-term knee injury nine months ago.
The German coach talked about Thiago Alcantara's return to the coaching staff, saying: "I am very happy with his return to the team, as is the entire team and the coaching staff. Although it was not easy to convince him, his wife Julia helped him return, and he has a lot of experience that he can pass on to the younger players, and I believe he is an important part of our success."
