توفي فرانك ميل، نجم منتخب ألمانيا السابق وأحد أبطال كأس العالم 1990، عن عمر يناهز 67 عاماً، إثر تعرضه لمضاعفات ناتجة عن أزمة قلبية.
وكان ميل قد أصيب بنوبة قلبية في أواخر مايو الماضي، حيث تم نقله جواً إلى المستشفى وتمكن المسعفون من إنعاشه بعد توقفه عن التنفس لعدة دقائق، وسمح له الأطباء بالعودة إلى مسقط رأسه في إيسن بألمانيا لاستكمال فترة تعافيه.
لكن بعد صراع طويل استمر عشرة أسابيع، توفي فرانك ميل صباح اليوم (الثلاثاء)، كما أفادت صحيفة «بيلد» الألمانية.
وشارك فرانك ميل في 17 مباراة مع المنتخب الألماني، وتوج مع الفريق ببطولة كأس العالم 1990 في إيطاليا، إضافة إلى حصوله على الميدالية البرونزية في دورة الألعاب الأولمبية 1988.
Frank Miel, the former star of the German national team and one of the champions of the 1990 World Cup, passed away at the age of 67 due to complications resulting from a heart attack.
Miel had suffered a heart attack in late May, where he was airlifted to the hospital, and paramedics were able to revive him after he stopped breathing for several minutes. Doctors allowed him to return to his hometown of Essen in Germany to continue his recovery.
However, after a long struggle that lasted ten weeks, Frank Miel passed away this morning (Tuesday), as reported by the German newspaper "Bild."
Frank Miel participated in 17 matches with the German national team and was crowned with the team at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, in addition to winning a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games.
