أعلن نادي بوتافوغو البرازيلي، اليوم (الإثنين)، إقالة مدربه ريناتو بايفا، عقب خروجه من بطولة كأس العالم للأندية 2025، المُقامة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
وقال النادي البرازيلي في بيان عبر حساباته الرسمية على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي: «يُعلن نادي بوتافوغو أن ريناتو بايفا لم يعد مدرباً للفريق الأول، وقد تم إبلاغه بالقرار مساء الأحد».
وأضاف: «يتوجّه النادي بالشكر إلى بايفا ومساعديه على الخدمات التي قدموها للنادي خلال الأشهر الماضية، لاسيما الانتصار التاريخي على باريس سان جيرمان في كأس العالم للأندية، والتأهل إلى دور الـ16 في كل من كأس ليبرتادوريس وكأس البرازيل».
وختم البيان: «يبحث جون تكستور وإدارة قسم كرة القدم بالنادي حالياً عن مدرب جديد لمواصلة السعي نحو تحقيق البطولات».
وكان بوتافوغو استهل مشواره في مونديال الأندية 2025 بالفوز على سياتل ساوندرز الأمريكي بنتيجة 2-1، ثم حقق مفاجأة تاريخية بتغلبه على باريس سان جيرمان 1-0، قبل أن يخسر أمام أتلتيكو مدريد 1-0 في ختام دور المجموعات، ليتأهل كوصيف للمجموعة الثانية برصيد 6 نقاط.
وودّع بوتافوغو البطولة من دور الـ16 بعد خسارته أمام مواطنه بالميراس بهدف دون رد.
The Brazilian club Botafogo announced today (Monday) the dismissal of its coach Renato Paiva, following their exit from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States.
The Brazilian club stated in a message through its official social media accounts: "Botafogo announces that Renato Paiva is no longer the head coach of the first team, and he was informed of the decision on Sunday evening."
It added: "The club thanks Paiva and his assistants for the services they provided to the club over the past months, especially the historic victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup and qualifying for the Round of 16 in both the Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil."
The statement concluded: "John Textor and the club's football department are currently looking for a new coach to continue the pursuit of championships."
Botafogo began its journey in the 2025 Club World Cup by defeating the Seattle Sounders 2-1, then achieved a historic surprise by beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0, before losing to Atlético Madrid 1-0 in the final group stage match, qualifying as the runner-up of Group B with 6 points.
Botafogo exited the tournament in the Round of 16 after losing to their compatriots Palmeiras by a goal to nil.
