ودّع النادي الأهلي المصري منافسات كأس العالم للأندية من دور المجموعات، بعد تعادله المثير 4 - 4 مع بورتو البرتغالي، بفضل تألق مهاجمه الفلسطيني وسام أبو علي، فيما تأهل إنتر ميامي الأمريكي، بقيادة ليونيل ميسي، إلى ثمن النهائي ليواجه باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي، بعد تعادله 2 - 2 مع بالميراس البرازيلي.
احتل الأهلي المركز الرابع في مجموعته برصيد نقطتين، بفارق 3 نقاط عن إنتر ميامي الثاني وبالميراس المتصدر، بينما جاء بورتو في المركز الثالث بنفس النقاط لكن بفارق الأهداف عن الأهلي.
