عيّن اتحاد أمريكا الجنوبية لكرة القدم (كونميبول) رئيس الاتحاد الأرجنتيني، كلاوديو تابيا، ممثلاً مؤقتاً له في مجلس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، خلفًا لرئيس الاتحاد البرازيلي السابق إدنالدو رودريغيز، الذي تم عزله من منصبه الأسبوع الماضي.
وجاء في بيان رسمي صادر عن «كونميبول» أن تعيين تابيا حظي بموافقة جماعية خلال اجتماع لمجلس الاتحاد، عُقد يوم الإثنين، مشيرًا في الوقت ذاته إلى أن الاتحاد البرازيلي لكرة القدم كان الجهة الوحيدة التي لم تحضر الاجتماع رغم تلقيها دعوة رسمية.
وتأتي هذه التطورات بعد أن أصدرت محكمة في ريو دي جانيرو قرارًا بعزل رودريغيز، بسبب اتهامات تتعلق بتزوير مستندات قانونية تم استخدامها كأساس للانتخابات التي فاز بها عام 2022. ورغم تقديمه استئنافًا أمام المحكمة العليا، قرر سحب الطعن يوم الإثنين.
وفي ضوء الفراغ الإداري، أوصى المدقق القضائي المعيّن من المحكمة بإجراء انتخابات مبكرة لاختيار إدارة جديدة لاتحاد الكرة البرازيلي، على أن تُعقد يوم 25 مايو الجاري.
ويمثل تعيين تابيا لحظة حساسة في العلاقة بين الاتحادات القارية والاتحاد الدولي، في وقت يشهد فيه اتحاد البرازيل اضطرابات قانونية قد تؤثر على مستقبل إدارته الكروية.
The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) has appointed the president of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Tapia, as its temporary representative on the FIFA Council, succeeding former Brazilian Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues, who was removed from his position last week.
An official statement from "CONMEBOL" indicated that Tapia's appointment received unanimous approval during a council meeting held on Monday, while also noting that the Brazilian Football Confederation was the only entity that did not attend the meeting despite receiving an official invitation.
These developments come after a court in Rio de Janeiro issued a ruling to remove Rodrigues due to allegations of falsifying legal documents that were used as the basis for the elections he won in 2022. Despite filing an appeal with the Supreme Court, he decided to withdraw the appeal on Monday.
In light of the administrative vacuum, the court-appointed auditor recommended holding early elections to select a new administration for the Brazilian Football Confederation, to be held on May 25 of this year.
Tapia's appointment represents a sensitive moment in the relationship between continental federations and FIFA, at a time when the Brazilian Confederation is experiencing legal turmoil that could impact the future of its football administration.
