أعلنت اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، مشاركتها في النقاشات الجارية مع اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية؛ بهدف استضافة دورة الألعاب الأولمبية والبارالمبية لعام 2036، وذلك في إطار الآلية الجديدة لاختيار المدينة المستضيفة.
وفي بيان لها، أكدت اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية أن هذه الخطوة تأتي لتعكس التزام دولة قطر الراسخ بدعم الحركة الأولمبية والبارالمبية، وحرصها على الإسهام بشكل فاعل في تطوير الرياضة العالمية، وتعزيز دورها في بناء جسور التواصل وتوسيع آفاق التقارب والتفاهم بين الشعوب.
من جانبه، قال رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية رئيس لجنة ملف الترشح الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني: «نؤمن بقوة الرياضة وتأثيرها في التقريب بين الشعوب والثقافات، وتمكين أفرادها، وإطلاق قدراتها البشرية، لا سيما الشباب».
وأضاف: «تعكس مشاركتنا في المناقشات الجارية لاستضافة دورة الألعاب الأولمبية والبارالمبية 2036، رؤية وطنية ترى في الرياضة محركاً للتنمية، ومنصة لتعزيز التفاهم والسلام بين الشعوب. لقد جعلنا من الرياضة محوراً أساسياً في إستراتيجيتنا الوطنية، ونطمح اليوم لتعزيز هذا الدور على المستوى الإقليمي والدولي، من خلال تقديم نموذج جديد يعكس تنوع منطقتنا، ويحتفي بقيمها الإنسانية الأصيلة».
وتابع: «نمتلك في الوقت الحالي بنية رياضية جاهزة لاستضافة الأولمبياد بنسبة 95%، ولدينا خطة وطنية متكاملة تضمن جاهزية جميع المرافق بنسبة 100%، وهي خطة تستند لرؤية طويلة الأمد تهدف لبناء إرث مستدام اجتماعياً واقتصادياً وبيئياً.. ولا يقتصر هدفنا على تنظيم بطولة ناجحة فحسب، بل تقديم تجربة عالمية ترسّخ مفاهيم الشمول، والاستدامة، والتعاون الدولي».
The Qatar Olympic Committee announced today (Tuesday) its participation in ongoing discussions with the International Olympic Committee, with the aim of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036, as part of the new mechanism for selecting the host city.
In a statement, the Qatar Olympic Committee confirmed that this step reflects Qatar's steadfast commitment to supporting the Olympic and Paralympic movements, and its eagerness to actively contribute to the development of global sports, enhancing its role in building bridges of communication and expanding horizons of rapprochement and understanding among peoples.
For his part, the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and head of the bid committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, said: “We believe in the power of sports and its impact on bringing people and cultures together, empowering individuals, and unleashing their human potential, especially the youth.”
He added: “Our participation in the ongoing discussions to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036 reflects a national vision that sees sports as a driver of development and a platform for enhancing understanding and peace among peoples. We have made sports a central focus of our national strategy, and today we aspire to enhance this role at the regional and international levels by presenting a new model that reflects the diversity of our region and celebrates its authentic human values.”
He continued: “We currently have a sports infrastructure ready to host the Olympics at 95%, and we have a comprehensive national plan that ensures the readiness of all facilities at 100%. This plan is based on a long-term vision aimed at building a sustainable legacy socially, economically, and environmentally. Our goal is not only to organize a successful championship but also to provide a global experience that reinforces the concepts of inclusivity, sustainability, and international cooperation.”
