أكد وزير الشباب والرياضة المصري الدكتور أشرف صبحي، أن محمد صلاح، نجم ليفربول الإنجليزي، فكّر في الاعتزال دولياً، عقب تولي حسام حسن مهمة القيادة الفنية لمنتخب مصر.
وأوضح وزير الرياضة خلال حواره مع برنامج «على مسؤوليتي» المذاع على قناة صدى البلد، أن محمد صلاح فكّر في الاعتزال، لكنه تدخل، والآن العلاقة بينه وبين الكابتن حسام حسن أصبحت «سمنًا على عسلٍ».
وأضاف أنه يفتخر بمحمد صلاح في كل جلسة تجمعه بالوزراء والسفراء الأجانب، ويضع «رجلاً على رجلٍ» ويقول: «عندنا مو صلاح»، مشدداً على أن نجم ليفربول «منتجًا وطنيًا» يجب الحفاظ عليه.
وأشار إلى أنه أكد لمحمد صلاح خلال حديث سابق بينهما، أنه قيمة كبيرة لمصر في الدوري الإنجليزي، وينبغي عليه تجديد عقده مع نادي ليفربول.
من جهة أخرى، علّق «صبحي» على تراجع الحضور الجماهيري لمباريات منتخب مصر، حيث قال: «أنا حزينٌ من عدم ذهاب الجماهير المصرية لدعم منتخب مصر، فقد اعتادوا على الذهاب فقط للمباريات المهمة، سواء للأندية أو للمنتخب»
The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, confirmed that Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool FC, considered retiring from international football after Hossam Hassan took over as the head coach of the Egyptian national team.
During his interview on the program "On My Responsibility" broadcast on Sada Elbalad channel, the Minister of Sports explained that Mohamed Salah thought about retirement, but he intervened, and now the relationship between him and Captain Hossam Hassan has become "as sweet as honey."
He added that he takes pride in Mohamed Salah in every meeting with ministers and foreign ambassadors, crossing his legs and saying: "We have Mo Salah," emphasizing that the Liverpool star is a "national product" that must be preserved.
He pointed out that he assured Mohamed Salah during a previous conversation between them that he is a significant asset for Egypt in the English Premier League, and he should renew his contract with Liverpool FC.
On another note, Sobhi commented on the decline in attendance at Egyptian national team matches, saying: "I am saddened by the lack of Egyptian fans attending to support the national team, as they have become accustomed to only going to important matches, whether for clubs or the national team."
