The Yemeni Cabinet announced today (Thursday) that the targeting of the Maashiq Presidential Palace in the temporary capital of Aden by the terrorist Houthi militia with rockets and drones, which resulted in the death and injury of several guards and workers, confirms that the Houthis will not undermine the will of the state and government or deter them from continuing the battle to restore state institutions and end the coup.
The council stated in a statement that the attack reveals the militia's inability to confront the will of the Yemenis in restoring their state, resorting instead to targeting civilian facilities. It clarified that Aden will remain a center for the work of state institutions, and that attempts at intimidation will not succeed in disrupting public life or undermining its presence.
It added that the targeting comes in the context of the ongoing terrorist escalation by the Houthi militia, coinciding with the "Dawn of Yemen" operation aimed at asserting the authority of the state over the entire national territory, reaching the capital Sana'a. It pointed out that Houthi attacks have extended to civilian sites and vital facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as residential neighborhoods in Taiz and Lahij, threatening the lives of civilians and regional security.
The council called on the international community and the United Nations to take a clear and firm stance regarding these attacks, to exert the necessary pressure to stop the targeting of civilians and civilian facilities, and to hold accountable those responsible for the violations.
It emphasized the government's commitment to continue fulfilling its national and constitutional responsibilities, supporting the armed forces, security agencies, and popular resistance in the battle to restore state authority and protect citizens, affirming that "the government will not retreat in the face of terrorism, and Aden will not be held hostage to threats, and the restoration of the republic will remain a national goal that will not be compromised."
The Yemeni Ministry of Information stated that the Houthi militia shelled residential neighborhoods in Marib in eastern Yemen with several rockets, coinciding with the shelling of the presidential headquarters in Maashiq in the capital Aden, and did not announce a final toll for the shelling.
