رحبت أمريكا اليوم (السبت) بقرار للبرلمان الأوروبي يدعو إلى اتخاذ تدابير أكثر صرامة لمواجهة الإرهاب المرتبط بالتيارات المتطرفة ونفوذ شبكات جماعة الإخوان الإرهابية، مؤكدة مواصلة إجراءاتها ضد فروع الجماعة المتورطة في أنشطة إرهابية وزعزعة الاستقرار.
وقال مستشار الرئيس الأمريكي للشؤون العربية والأفريقية، مسعد بولس، في منشور على منصة «إكس»، إن واشنطن ترحب بقرار البرلمان الأوروبي، مشيراً إلى أن الولايات المتحدة تتخذ إجراءات حاسمة ضد فروع جماعة الإخوان المتورطة في الإرهاب والأنشطة المزعزعة للاستقرار.
وأضاف بولس: أمريكا تشجع مواصلة التعاون مع الشركاء الأوروبيين لمكافحة الإرهاب، وتعطيل شبكات التطرف العنيف، وحماية الأمن المشترك، في تأكيد على أهمية التنسيق بين الجانبين لمواجهة التهديدات الأمنية.
يأتي الموقف الأمريكي عقب اعتماد البرلمان الأوروبي قراراً يدعو إلى اتخاذ تدابير أقوى لمواجهة الإرهاب ونفوذ شبكات الإخوان. ويدعو القرار إلى تشديد الإجراءات ذات الصلة، فيما لا يعني اعتماده بمفرده إدراج الجماعة تلقائياً على قائمة الاتحاد الأوروبي للمنظمات الإرهابية.
وحظي القرار، الذي قدمه حزب الشعب الأوروبي، بدعم من المحافظين وأقصى اليمين، إضافة إلى بعض المشرعين الليبراليين، وجرى تمريره بأغلبية 381 صوتاً مؤيداً، مقابل 167 صوتاً معارضاً و15 صوتاً ممتنعاً، خلال عملية التصويت.
يذكر أن إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب قد اتخذت خطوات ضد نشاط جماعة الإخوان في الولايات المتحدة، في 24 نوفمبر حيث وقّع ترمب أمراً تنفيذياً بدأ بموجبه مسار دراسة تصنيف فروع محددة من الجماعة منظمات إرهابية أجنبية، أو إدراجها ضمن قائمة الإرهابيين العالميين المصنفين تصنيفاً خاصاً، مع توجيه وزارتي الخارجية والخزانة إلى تقييم فروع في مصر والأردن ولبنان.
The United States welcomed today (Saturday) a decision by the European Parliament calling for stricter measures to combat terrorism linked to extremist currents and the influence of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood networks, reaffirming its commitment to continue actions against the group's branches involved in terrorist activities and destabilization.
U.S. President's Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Messaad Boulos, stated in a post on the platform "X" that Washington welcomes the European Parliament's decision, noting that the United States is taking decisive actions against the branches of the Muslim Brotherhood involved in terrorism and destabilizing activities.
Boulos added: The U.S. encourages continued cooperation with European partners to combat terrorism, disrupt violent extremism networks, and protect common security, emphasizing the importance of coordination between both sides to address security threats.
The U.S. stance comes after the European Parliament adopted a decision calling for stronger measures to combat terrorism and the influence of Brotherhood networks. The decision calls for tightening related measures, although its adoption alone does not automatically include the group on the EU's list of terrorist organizations.
The decision, presented by the European People's Party, received support from conservatives and the far-right, as well as some liberal lawmakers, and was passed with a majority of 381 votes in favor, 167 votes against, and 15 abstentions during the voting process.
It is worth noting that the administration of President Donald Trump took steps against the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States, on November 24, when Trump signed an executive order that initiated a process to study the designation of specific branches of the group as foreign terrorist organizations or their inclusion on the list of specially designated global terrorists, directing the Departments of State and Treasury to assess branches in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon.
