Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the Saudi capital, Riyadh, will host an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political Defense Committee under the "Makkah Agreement for Joint Defense," signed between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. Dar stated during a press conference in Islamabad today, Friday, that the meeting scheduled for next week will focus on "the Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," according to the "Reuters" agency.
He mentioned that he participated in a meeting with Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York on September 24, as reported by the Pakistani website "DAWN."
Dar added that the Strategic Political Defense Committee, established under the "Makkah Agreement," includes three members from each country: the foreign ministers, defense ministers, and chiefs of staff of the armies.
He pointed out that there was a preliminary agreement to hold a meeting of the Strategic Political Defense Committee in Riyadh very soon, explaining that the meeting will discuss "the reality on the ground," particularly concerning Saudi Arabia.
Riyadh hosted a meeting on September 25, which included the chiefs of staff of the armies of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. The three countries confirmed during the meeting their commitment to "collective defense" of the Kingdom's security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and announced their intention to immediately begin translating the commitments outlined in the "Makkah Agreement for Joint Defense" into effective military cooperation.
The meeting discussed the security situation and the threats facing Saudi Arabia, while the military leaders of the three countries expressed their strong condemnation of the attacks targeting the holy city of Makkah and the civil and economic infrastructure in the Kingdom. The participants praised the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi armed forces in dealing with threats and ensuring the safety of citizens and residents and the security of the Kingdom.
