U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent confirmed today (Monday) that all Iranian airlines will cease operations worldwide on September 23.
CNBC reported U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent as saying: "He cannot determine how long the conflict will last," indicating that all Iranian airlines will stop operating worldwide starting September 23.
He noted that the U.S. has discussed the matter with China, and that Beijing is "very engaged" in the process.
For his part, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations stated: President Trump is open to talks with Iran, emphasizing the need to reach a peace agreement.
He pointed out that the Iranians must come to the negotiating table in good faith and speak on behalf of the Supreme Leader.
In contrast, the Iranian Tasnim news agency confirmed the arrival of Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran, where he was received by his Iranian counterpart Iskandar Momeni, stating that the visit aims to discuss and exchange views on bilateral relations and review the terms of the agreement signed between the two countries by senior officials from both sides.
Pakistan had previously confirmed its commitment to continue mediating between the United States and Iran in order to reach a peaceful settlement, stressing the importance of the diplomatic path in addressing the disputes between Washington and Tehran.
While Islamabad seeks to keep mediation channels open between the two sides, tensions between the United States and Iran continue in a way that threatens to return to square one again, especially following Iranian statements and fears of renewed confrontations.
