A Palestinian was killed today (Sunday) by Israeli army fire in the northern occupied West Bank, while an Israeli was shot dead from inside a vehicle near a settlement in the West Bank.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the police said a gunman opened fire on people in the area, killing an Israeli man before fleeing, and that the police are searching for the attacker.
The police stated that its forces are conducting extensive search operations to locate the suspects and find additional evidence, while the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, General Eyal Zamir, ordered the deployment of additional troops to the area to find the attacker.
The Israeli army reported that Zamir conducted a situation assessment and ordered an increase in forces, indicating that the army launched an operation to pursue the attacker and close roads in the area.
This came as the Israeli army shot dead a Palestinian, claiming that the Palestinian attempted to run over the troops with his vehicle in the northern West Bank, but they confirmed that none of their soldiers were harmed in the incident.
The Israeli army stated that soldiers from the 890th Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade, stationed in the area, opened fire on the vehicle and killed its driver, and a second Palestinian who was in the vehicle was also arrested.
Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to hold accountable the perpetrators of the attacks and those who aided them, explaining that he instructed Israeli security forces to send reinforcements to the West Bank, impose closures, and carry out arrests.
Netanyahu also ordered the demolition of the home of the Palestinian killed by Israeli forces in the northern West Bank.
