حمَّل السفير الأمريكي في إسرائيل مايك هاكابي، اليوم (السبت)، الحكومة الإسرائيلية مسؤولية ضمان سلامة الفلسطينيين في الضفة الغربية المحتلة، وذلك إثر تصاعد حاد في هجمات المستوطنين.
وقال هاكابي خلال لقائه فلسطينيين أمريكيين في الضفة الغربية: «إحدى الرسائل التي نوجهها، وسنواصل توجيهها، مفادها أن لسكان هذه المجتمعات الحق في العيش بأمان، وأن من مسؤولية الحكومة السهر على تحقيق ذلك».
من جانبه، ذكر تقرير نشرته مفوضية الأمم المتحدة السامية لحقوق الإنسان أمس أن قوات الأمن الإسرائيلية هجَّرت قسراً جميع السكان الفلسطينيين في ثلاثة مخيمات للاجئين في الضفة الغربية خلال شهري يناير وفبراير 2025، وما زالت تمنع عودتهم، في انتهاك للقانون الدولي.
وأوضح التقرير، الذي يحمل عنوان «تدمير مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في شمال الضفة الغربية»، أن الجيش والشرطة الإسرائيلية وقوات أخرى نُشرت في إطار عملية «الجدار الحديدي» الجارية قتلت مدنيين، ودمّرت مئات المنازل، وألحقت أضراراً بالطرق وغيرها من البنى التحتية، وقطعت المياه والكهرباء، ومنعت وصول الدعم الإنساني للاجئين في مخيمات جنين ونور شمس وطولكرم، كما تنقّلت من منزل إلى آخر لإجبار السكان على المغادرة.
يذكر أن جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي في أكتوبر الماضي دمر أو ألحق أضراراً بـ52% من المباني في مخيم جنين للاجئين، و48% في مخيم نور شمس، و36% في مخيم طولكرم، جراء العملية الإسرائيلية.
وتعتبر المخيمات الثلاثة من بين 19 مخيماً في الضفة الغربية أُنشئت لإيواء اللاجئين الفلسطينيين بعد التهجير القسري الجماعي خلال النكبة عام 1948، وتتولى وكالة الأمم المتحدة لإغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في الشرق الأدنى (الأونروا) إدارتها.
The American ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, today (Saturday) held the Israeli government responsible for ensuring the safety of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, following a sharp increase in attacks by settlers.
Huckabee stated during his meeting with American Palestinians in the West Bank: “One of the messages we convey, and will continue to convey, is that the residents of these communities have the right to live in safety, and it is the government's responsibility to ensure that.”
For its part, a report published by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights yesterday indicated that Israeli security forces forcibly displaced all Palestinian residents from three refugee camps in the West Bank during January and February 2025, and continue to prevent their return, in violation of international law.
The report, titled “Destruction of Palestinian Refugee Camps in Northern West Bank,” clarified that the Israeli army, police, and other forces deployed as part of the ongoing “Iron Wall” operation killed civilians, destroyed hundreds of homes, damaged roads and other infrastructure, cut off water and electricity, and prevented humanitarian aid from reaching refugees in the Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarm camps, while moving from house to house to force residents to leave.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation army in October last year destroyed or damaged 52% of the buildings in the Jenin refugee camp, 48% in the Nur Shams camp, and 36% in the Tulkarm camp, due to the Israeli operation.
The three camps are among 19 camps in the West Bank established to accommodate Palestinian refugees following the mass forced displacement during the Nakba in 1948, and they are managed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
