كشف مسؤولون أمريكيون، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، عن توجه مدير وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأمريكية (CIA) جون راتكليف إلى موسكو لإجراء محادثات مع مسؤولين روس.
ونقل موقع «أكسيوس» عن مصدر مطلع على الأمر أن الولايات المتحدة أبلغت أوكرانيا، قبل زيارة راتكليف، بأن وفدًا أمريكيًا رفيع المستوى سيتوجه إلى موسكو، وطلبت منها تعليق الضربات إلى حين مغادرة الوفد.
وغادر راتكليف واشنطن، (الأحد)، متجهًا إلى لاتفيا على متن طائرة حكومية أمريكية، قبل أن ينتقل من العاصمة ريغا إلى موسكو، اليوم، على متن طائرة C-17 تابعة للقوات الجوية الأمريكية.
بدورها، قالت مصادر مطلعة لشبكة «سي بي إس نيوز» إن راتكليف موجود في موسكو لعقد اجتماعات، موضحة أن طائرة نقل أمريكية من طراز C-17A رُصدت في أحد مطارات موسكو إلى جانب موكب دبلوماسي أمريكي.
ولم تعلق الحكومتان الأمريكية والروسية على هوية المسؤول الأمريكي الموجود في روسيا أو الغرض من الزيارة، كما لم ترد وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأمريكية على طلبات للتعليق.
وكانت بيانات موقع «فلايت رادار 24» لتتبع حركة الملاحة الجوية أظهرت أن طائرة نقل عسكرية أمريكية هبطت، اليوم، في مطار فنوكوفو بموسكو.
وتعد هذه الزيارة أرفع زيارة لمسؤول في إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب إلى روسيا منذ يناير، لدفع مفاوضات السلام بين موسكو وكييف، وسط توقعات بزيارة المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف قريبًا، خصوصًا بعد تأجيل زيارة كانت مقررة منتصف الشهر الجاري.
U.S. officials revealed today (Tuesday) that the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Ratcliffe, is heading to Moscow for talks with Russian officials.
The Axios website reported from a source familiar with the matter that the United States informed Ukraine, prior to Ratcliffe's visit, that a high-level American delegation would be heading to Moscow, and requested that Ukraine suspend strikes until the delegation's departure.
Ratcliffe left Washington on Sunday, heading to Latvia on a U.S. government plane, before transferring from the capital Riga to Moscow today on a U.S. Air Force C-17 aircraft.
For its part, sources familiar with the matter told CBS News that Ratcliffe is in Moscow for meetings, noting that a U.S. C-17A transport plane was spotted at one of Moscow's airports alongside a U.S. diplomatic convoy.
Neither the U.S. nor Russian governments commented on the identity of the American official in Russia or the purpose of the visit, nor did the CIA respond to requests for comment.
Data from the Flight Radar 24 website, which tracks air traffic, showed that a U.S. military transport plane landed today at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow.
This visit marks the highest-level visit by an official from President Donald Trump's administration to Russia since January, aimed at advancing peace negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, amid expectations of a visit by U.S. envoy Steve Whitkoff soon, especially after a visit that was scheduled for mid this month was postponed.
