هنأ الرئيس السوري أحمد الشرع الشعب السوري بإزالة اسم سورية رسمياً من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب.
وقال الشرع: «أشكر الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب وكل الأشقاء والأصدقاء الذين وقفوا مع سورية والسوريين».
وأكد أن «سورية مزقت اليوم صفحة الماضي الأليم لتنطلق إلى فضاء الإعمار والبناء».
تصريحات وزير الخارجية السوري
من جهته، اعتبر وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد حسن الشيباني رفع اسم سورية من القائمة بمثابة ثمرة التحول الذي صنعه السوريون، وتجسيد لالتزام الدولة السورية الجديدة بالأمن والسلام الدوليين. وقال الشيباني عبر حسابه على منصة «إكس»: «نبارك لشعبنا السوري هذا الحدث التاريخي برفع اسم سورية من قائمة الدول الراعية للإرهاب، بعد 47 عاماً من التصنيف الذي ارتبط بسياسات النظام البائد وممارساته، ولم يكن يوماً خياراً لشعبنا ولا يليق بسورية وتاريخها». وأضاف أن دمشق ستواصل العمل لإزالة آثار العزلة، وتهيئة بيئة قائمة على الشفافية والمصالح المتبادلة والاحترام، بما يعزز التنمية والاستقرار في سورية والمنطقة.
تصريحات المبعوث الأمريكي الخاص
وقال المبعوث الأمريكي الخاص إلى سورية والعراق توم براك إن إلغاء تصنيف سورية دولة راعية للإرهاب يمثل خطوة حاسمة في رحلة سورية من العزلة إلى الشراكة، ومن كونها مصدراً للإرهاب إلى شريك ملتزم بمكافحته. وأضاف أن التصنيف شكّل لفترة طويلة جداراً يفصل الشعب السوري عن الاستثمار وريادة الأعمال والفرص اللازمة لإعادة بناء بلده، وبإزالته يعني سقوط جدار آخر.
وأكد براك أن إلغاء التصنيف يمثل حجراً أساسياً آخر في علاقة أمريكية سورية جديدة تقوم على المصالح المشتركة والأمن المتبادل والازدهار المشترك، مشيراً إلى أن رأس المال يمكن أن يحل محل الصراع، والمشاريع محل العزلة، والتجارة محل الفوضى. وأشار إلى أن سورية مُنحت فرصة، وأن العمل يتمثل في تحويلها إلى سلام وازدهار مستدامين.
إعلان وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية
وكانت وزارة الخزانة الأمريكية قد أعلنت، في وقت سابق أمس، إلغاء تصنيف سورية دولة راعية للإرهاب، مؤكدة أنها لم تعد خاضعة للحظر بموجب لوائح عقوبات الحكومات المدرجة على قائمة الإرهاب.
The Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara congratulated the Syrian people on the official removal of Syria's name from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Al-Shara said: "I thank U.S. President Donald Trump and all the brothers and friends who stood with Syria and the Syrians."
He confirmed that "Syria has today torn up the painful page of the past to launch into the space of reconstruction and building."
Statements by the Syrian Foreign Minister
For his part, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hasan al-Shaybani considered the removal of Syria's name from the list as a fruit of the transformation made by the Syrians, and a manifestation of the commitment of the new Syrian state to international security and peace. Al-Shaybani said via his account on the "X" platform: "We congratulate our Syrian people on this historic event of lifting Syria's name from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, after 47 years of classification linked to the policies and practices of the fallen regime, which was never a choice for our people and does not befit Syria and its history." He added that Damascus will continue to work to remove the effects of isolation and to create an environment based on transparency, mutual interests, and respect, which enhances development and stability in Syria and the region.
Statements by the U.S. Special Envoy
U.S. Special Envoy to Syria and Iraq Tom Brack stated that the removal of Syria's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism represents a crucial step in Syria's journey from isolation to partnership, from being a source of terrorism to a committed partner in combating it. He added that the designation had long formed a wall separating the Syrian people from investment, entrepreneurship, and the opportunities necessary to rebuild their country, and its removal means the fall of another wall.
Brack affirmed that the removal of the designation represents another cornerstone in a new U.S.-Syrian relationship based on mutual interests, shared security, and common prosperity, noting that capital can replace conflict, projects can replace isolation, and trade can replace chaos. He pointed out that Syria has been given an opportunity, and the work lies in transforming it into sustainable peace and prosperity.
Announcement by the U.S. Department of the Treasury
The U.S. Department of the Treasury had announced earlier yesterday the removal of Syria's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, confirming that it is no longer subject to sanctions under the government regulations listed as terrorism.
