شددت إدارة المرور على قائدي الحافلات المدرسية ومساعديهم التأكد من صعود أو نزول جميع الطلبة، على أن يتم التحميل والتنزيل من الجهة اليمنى للحافلة، وعدم فتح الباب للطلاب والطالبات إلا بعد التوقف التام، والتأكد من إغلاق الباب قبل الانطلاق مع استخدام إشارة «قف»، والإشراف على سلامة الطلبة داخل الحافلة.
وتفرض إدارة المرور غرامات عالية على تجاوز حافلات المدارس أثناء توقفها للتحميل أو التنزيل، كما تفرض عقوبات على إحداث الضوضاء في محيط المدارس، مؤكدة أن الأصوات العالية الصادرة عن المركبات تشتت تركيز الطلاب وتؤثر سلباً على البيئة التعليمية. وتشترط على سائقي حافلات المدارس رخصة قيادة سارية الصلاحية من الفئة المناسبة لنوع وحجم المركبة وفقاً لنظام المرور ولائحته التنفيذية، وأن يكون السائق حاصلاً على دورة إسعافات أولية وألا يقل عمره عن 25 عاماً وحاصلًا على شهادة خلو من السوابق واجتياز الفحص الطبي واختبار الكفاءة المهنية. وتلزم القواعد السائق بعدم المغادرة قبل دخول طلاب وطالبات المدارس مقر الجهة التعليمية أو مقر السكن.
والتأكد من توافر أدوات ومتطلبات السلامة اللازمة في المركبة، كطفايات الحريق، حقيبة الإسعافات الأولية، والفحص اليومي للتأكد من سلامة مكابح المركبة، وسلامة الإطارات والمصابيح وإشارات التنبيه الضوئية والتنبيه السمعي ومساحات الزجاج الأمامي والخلفي، وسلامة المرايا الجانبية والزجاج الأمامي والخلفي، والتأكد من عدم وجود تسريب لأيٍ من سوائل المركبة أو وجود دخان كثيف من العادم، والتأكد من أحزمة الأمان.

It requires school bus drivers to have a valid driving license appropriate for the type and size of the vehicle according to traffic regulations and their executive bylaws, and the driver must be at least 25 years old, have completed a first aid course, and possess a certificate of good conduct, pass a medical examination, and pass a professional competency test. The regulations require the driver not to leave before students have entered the educational institution or their residence.
Additionally, it is essential to ensure that the necessary safety tools and requirements are available in the vehicle, such as fire extinguishers, a first aid kit, and daily checks to ensure the safety of the vehicle's brakes, tires, lights, warning signals, and the windshield and rear wipers, as well as the safety of side mirrors and the front and rear glass. It is also important to check for any leaks of vehicle fluids or the presence of thick smoke from the exhaust, and to ensure that seat belts are functioning properly.
