The Hong Kong police recovered a quantity of stolen gold estimated at around 30 million Hong Kong dollars, following a meticulously planned theft that took place inside a hotel room in the Kwun Tong area, where the perpetrators relied on a clever trick to conceal the stolen goods.
The incident came after authorities received a report from a Chinese man who stated that approximately 30 kilograms of pure gold pellets were stolen from his bag while he was staying at the hotel. He explained that the thieves replaced the gold with eight bottles of fabric softener that weighed nearly the same, in an attempt to hide the crime, coinciding with the disappearance of a friend who was sharing the room with him.
After extensive investigations, the police were able to unravel the complex operation and arrested two men suspected of being involved in the theft, while the relevant authorities continue to investigate to uncover the details of the crime's planning and determine if there are other accomplices involved.
