أعلنت هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية (الخميس)، سيطرة مسلحين صوماليين على سفينة قبالة سواحل اليمن. وقالت الهيئة إن ستة مسلحين صعدوا على متن السفينة وسيطروا عليها، موضحة أن السفينة غيرت مسارها وتتجه نحو الصومال.
وكانت الهيئة قد ذكرت في وقت سابق أنها تلقت بلاغاً عن واقعة على بعد 136 ميلاً بحرياً إلى الشرق من المكلا باليمن، إذ أبلغت ناقلة نفط تبحر غرباً في خليج عدن بأن سفينة اقتربت منها دون إذن، ولم تقدم الهيئة أي تفاصيل إضافية، ولم توضح ما إذا كانت الناقلة وطاقمها بخير.
ويشهد خليج عدن والمياه المحيطة بالسواحل اليمنية والصومالية تهديدات أمنية متزايدة، في ظل استمرار المخاطر التي تواجه السفن التجارية وناقلات النفط العابرة لأحد أهم الممرات البحرية في العالم.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations announced (on Thursday) that Somali gunmen have taken control of a ship off the coast of Yemen. The agency stated that six armed men boarded the vessel and seized it, noting that the ship has changed its course and is heading towards Somalia.
The agency had previously reported that it received a notification about an incident 136 nautical miles east of Mukalla, Yemen, where an oil tanker sailing west in the Gulf of Aden reported that a ship approached it without permission. The agency did not provide any additional details and did not clarify whether the tanker and its crew are safe.
The Gulf of Aden and the waters surrounding the Yemeni and Somali coasts are witnessing increasing security threats, amid ongoing risks faced by commercial ships and oil tankers transiting one of the most important maritime routes in the world.
