أفصحت وزارة الحرب الأمريكية (البنتاغون) عن عقد بقيمة 22.9 مليار دولار مع شركة رايثيون، التابعة لشركة RTX، مُنح لها من قِبل البحرية الأمريكية، لتسريع إنتاج صواريخ توماهوك، وهو سلاح بالغ الأهمية للضربات بعيدة المدى.
وأفاد وكيل وزارة الحرب للاستحواذ والصيانة مايكل بي دافي بأن الوزارة طلبت توسيع إنتاج الذخائر، وقد استجابت RTX لهذا النداء، مضيفاً أن ما يعزز هذا العقد قدرة القوات المشتركة على التجهيز، ما يضمن عدم خوض الجنود أي معركة غير متكافئة.
ويتيح العقد الجديد توفير القدرات بسرعة لمواجهة التهديدات الحديثة، مع توفير الاستقرار اللازم للشركاء الصناعيين لتوسيع كوادرهم، وزيادة إنتاجية التصنيع، وتعزيز سلاسل التوريد، ويُسهم في تطوير إستراتيجية وزارة الحرب لتحويل عمليات الاستحواذ من خلال تسريع تسليم الأسلحة الحيوية وتقليل مدد التوريد.
من جهته، قال القائم بأعمال وزير البحرية الأمريكية هونغ كاو إن ضمان امتلاك قواتنا البحرية والقوات المشتركة للقوة النارية الفتاكة اللازمة لردع أي عدوان وحماية الوطن أمر بالغ الأهمية، مؤكداً أن هذا الاستثمار التاريخي البالغ 22.9 مليار دولار سيسهم في تسريع إيصال صواريخ توماهوك إلى مقاتلينا بوتيرة غير مسبوقة.
وأضاف أنه من خلال العمل الوثيق مع قطاع الصناعة لتوسيع قدرة قاعدة صناعة الذخائر لدينا، تستخدم الوزارة جميع الأدوات المتاحة لتلبية متطلبات عملياتنا الحالية، وضمان تجهيز قواتنا للقتال والانتصار والعودة سالمة إلى الوطن.
وتُعدّ إدارة الاستحواذ على الذخائر (PAE Munitions) إحدى منظمات وزارة البحرية المسؤولة عن تطوير وشراء وتوريد الذخائر البحرية وقدرات الضربات.
ومن خلال توحيد برامج الأسلحة الرئيسية ومواءمة قاعدة صناعة الأسلحة، توفر إدارة الاستحواذ على الذخائر تكاملاً على مستوى المؤسسة لتسريع الإنتاج وزيادة القدرة الإنتاجية وضمان تجهيز الأسطول بالذخائر اللازمة لبسط النفوذ وتحقيق النصر.
The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has disclosed a contract worth $22.9 billion with Raytheon, a subsidiary of RTX, awarded by the U.S. Navy to accelerate the production of Tomahawk missiles, a weapon of critical importance for long-range strikes.
Michael P. Duffy, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, reported that the department requested an expansion of munitions production, and RTX responded to this call, adding that this contract enhances the joint forces' readiness, ensuring that soldiers do not engage in any asymmetric battles.
The new contract enables rapid capability provision to address modern threats while providing the necessary stability for industrial partners to expand their workforce, increase manufacturing productivity, and strengthen supply chains. It contributes to the Department of Defense's strategy to transform acquisition processes by accelerating the delivery of vital weapons and reducing supply timelines.
For his part, Acting U.S. Navy Secretary Hong Kao stated that ensuring our naval forces and joint forces possess the lethal firepower necessary to deter any aggression and protect the homeland is of utmost importance, emphasizing that this historic investment of $22.9 billion will help accelerate the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to our fighters at an unprecedented pace.
He added that by working closely with the industrial sector to expand our munitions manufacturing base, the department is utilizing all available tools to meet the requirements of our current operations, ensuring our forces are equipped to fight, win, and return home safely.
The Munitions Acquisition Executive (PAE Munitions) is one of the organizations within the Department of the Navy responsible for developing, purchasing, and supplying naval munitions and strike capabilities.
By consolidating major weapon programs and aligning the weapons manufacturing base, the Munitions Acquisition Executive provides institutional integration to accelerate production, increase production capacity, and ensure the fleet is equipped with the necessary munitions to project power and achieve victory.
