أقر مسؤول عسكري أوكراني، اليوم (الخميس)، بوجود نحو 16 ألف متطوع أجنبي من 72 دولة يخدمون في القوات المسلحة الأوكرانية، وذلك بعد إصدار موسكو أحكاماً بحق 36 مرتزقاً بتهمة الغزو لمقاطعة كورسك.
ونقلت وكالة أنباء «إنترفاكس» الأوكرانية عن أمينة المظالم العسكرية أولها ريشتيلوفا أن نحو 40% من المقاتلين الأجانب جاؤوا من دول أمريكا اللاتينية.
وأكد الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي أن عدد القوات المسلحة يبلغ نحو 880 ألف جندي.
وكشف وزير الدفاع آنذاك ميخايلو فيدوروف خطة لزيادة نسبة المجندين الأجانب في وحدات الهجوم والمشاة لتصل إلى 50%.
وتسعى كييف لجذب المجندين من مختلف أنحاء العالم بعرض راتب شهري متوسط يعادل نحو 6700 دولار. وأنشأت أوكرانيا الفيلق الدولي بعد فترة قصيرة من الغزو الشامل الذي شنته روسيا ضدها في 2022 لتجنيد المتطوعين الأجانب، كما يخدم المقاتلون الأجانب في الجانب الروسي.
في المقابل، أعلنت النيابة العامة الروسية أن أحكاماً صدرت بحق 36 مرتزقاً من 13 دولة بتهمة مشاركتهم في اقتحام القوات الأوكرانية لمقاطعة كورسك الروسية وارتكاب جرائم ضد المدنيين.
وأكدت النيابة رداً على سؤال «تاس»: «ومن بين المتهمين 36 مرتزقاً أجنبياً، تمت إدانة 20 منهم غيابياً، ومن بين المرتزقة مواطنون من جورجيا والولايات المتحدة وليتوانيا وباراغواي والدنمارك ومالطا وسويسرا والسويد والبرازيل وكولومبيا وبيرو ونيوزيلندا وبريطانيا».
A Ukrainian military official acknowledged today (Thursday) the presence of about 16,000 foreign volunteers from 72 countries serving in the Ukrainian armed forces, following Moscow's sentencing of 36 mercenaries for their involvement in the invasion of the Kursk region.
The Ukrainian news agency "Interfax" reported from military ombudsman Olha Ryshtylova that about 40% of the foreign fighters came from Latin American countries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the armed forces number around 880,000 soldiers.
At that time, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov revealed a plan to increase the proportion of foreign recruits in assault and infantry units to 50%.
Kyiv is seeking to attract recruits from around the world by offering an average monthly salary of about $6,700. Ukraine established the International Legion shortly after the full-scale invasion launched by Russia against it in 2022 to recruit foreign volunteers, and foreign fighters are also serving on the Russian side.
In contrast, the Russian Prosecutor's Office announced that sentences had been issued against 36 mercenaries from 13 countries for their participation in the Ukrainian forces' incursion into the Russian Kursk region and for committing crimes against civilians.
The Prosecutor's Office confirmed in response to a question from "TASS": "Among the 36 foreign mercenaries accused, 20 were convicted in absentia, and among the mercenaries are citizens from Georgia, the United States, Lithuania, Paraguay, Denmark, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom."
