بعد ساعات من إعلان وزارة الداخلية السورية ضبط أسلحة، من بينها مسيّرات قادمة من العراق ومتوجهة إلى سورية، أعلنت قيادة العمليات المشتركة العراقية، (الخميس)، تشكيل لجنة تحقيقية بعد إحباط عملية تهريب أسلحة عبر الحدود.
وأوضحت خلية الإعلام الأمني في بيان، أنه «بتوجيه من القائد العام للقوات المسلحة، تم تشكيل لجنة عليا من الجهات ذات العلاقة والمختصين للوقوف على تفاصيل عملية إحباط تهريب أسلحة وصواريخ عبر الحدود العراقية نحو الأراضي السورية»، بحسب وكالة الأنباء العراقية (واع).
وأضافت: «سيتم التنسيق مع الجانب السوري لمعرفة جميع التفاصيل المتعلقة بهذه العملية، ومحاسبة المقصرين بما يضمن الحفاظ على أمن واستقرار الحدود المشتركة، ومنع أي محاولات لزعزعة الأمن الوطني».

وأعلنت وزارة الداخلية السورية إحباط وحداتها المختصة محاولة تهريب شحنة ضخمة من الأسلحة النوعية على الحدود السورية-العراقية، مؤكدة أنها ضبطتها قبل إدخالها إلى داخل الأراضي السورية.
وأوضحت الوزارة أن العملية جاءت بعد رصد مركبة متوقفة ضمن النطاق الحدودي في ظروف أثارت الاشتباه، إذ جرى إخضاعها للتفتيش، ما أسفر عن ضبط شحنة من الأسلحة شملت صواريخ بعيدة المدى، وصواريخ موجهة مضادة للدروع، وطائرات مسيّرة.
وذكرت الوزارة أن التحقيقات الأولية، استناداً إلى الأدلة والقرائن التي جُمعت خلال العملية، تشير إلى أن الشحنة كانت معدة للعبور عبر الأراضي السورية باتجاه لبنان لصالح حزب الله اللبناني، فيما تتواصل التحقيقات لكشف جميع ملابسات القضية، وتحديد جميع المتورطين فيها، والشبكات المرتبطة بها.
وأكدت وزارة الداخلية السورية أن حماية الحدود وصون السيادة الوطنية يمثلان أولوية لا تهاون فيها، وأنها لن تسمح باستغلال الأراضي السورية ممراً أو منطلقاً لتهريب الأسلحة أو تنفيذ أي أنشطة تهدد أمن سورية أو دول الجوار.
Hours after the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of weapons, including drones coming from Iraq and heading to Syria, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced on Thursday the formation of an investigative committee after thwarting a weapons smuggling operation across the border.
The Security Media Cell clarified in a statement that "upon the directive of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, a high-level committee was formed from the relevant authorities and specialists to look into the details of the thwarted weapons and missile smuggling operation across the Iraqi border towards Syrian territory," according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
It added: "Coordination will take place with the Syrian side to learn all the details related to this operation and to hold accountable those responsible, ensuring the preservation of security and stability along the shared borders, and preventing any attempts to undermine national security."

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that its specialized units thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of sophisticated weapons at the Syrian-Iraqi border, confirming that they seized it before it could be brought into Syrian territory.
The ministry explained that the operation came after monitoring a vehicle parked within the border area under suspicious circumstances, which was subjected to inspection, resulting in the seizure of a shipment of weapons that included long-range missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, and drones.
The ministry mentioned that preliminary investigations, based on the evidence and clues gathered during the operation, indicate that the shipment was intended to cross through Syrian territory towards Lebanon for the benefit of the Lebanese Hezbollah, while investigations continue to uncover all the circumstances of the case and identify all those involved and the networks connected to it.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior emphasized that protecting the borders and preserving national sovereignty are non-negotiable priorities, and that it will not allow the exploitation of Syrian territory as a passage or launch point for smuggling weapons or carrying out any activities that threaten the security of Syria or neighboring countries.
