كشفت وسائل إعلام أمريكية اليوم (الأحد) تعليق المحادثات بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران التي كانت مقررة هذا الأسبوع.
ونقلت صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» عن مصادر قولها إن المحادثات التي كانت مقررة هذا الأسبوع بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران في سويسرا تأجلت، في ظل تجدد الضربات بين البلدين.
وقال أشخاص مطلعون على الأمر إن استئناف تلك المحادثات كان متوقعاً نهاية هذا الأسبوع في سويسرا، لكن الأمر توقف بسبب القتال.
جاء ذلك في الوقت الذي قال فيه التلفزيون الإيراني إن المرور عبر مضيق هرمز «لا يزال يتطلب التنسيق مع الحرس الثوري»، موضحاً أن «أكثر الممرات أماناً للسفن الداخلة إلى المضيق يقع جنوبي جزيرة هرمز وللسفن الخارجة جنوبي جزيرة لارك».
في الوقت ذاته، نددت وزيرة الخارجية البريطانية إيفيت كوبر بالهجمات الإيرانية التي وصفتها بـ«المتهورة» على البحرين والكويت ومضيق هرمز.
وكتبت كوبر، في منشور على منصة «إكس»، أن الهجمات الإيرانية تعرض حياة المدنيين للخطر، وتعرقل حرية الملاحة في مضيق هرمز، مشددة على أهمية تنفيذ مذكرة التفاهم التي وقعتها إيران مع الولايات المتحدة الأسبوع الماضي.
من جهته، أكّد السفير الأمريكي لدى الأمم المتحدة مايكل والتز أن تحركات بلاده ستستمر عند الحاجة لتدمير بنى تحتية تستخدمها إيران للسيطرة على هرمز، موضحاً أن إيران تخطئ إن ظنت أن الرئيس دونالد ترمب سيقف مكتوف الأيدي بينما تهاجم الملاحة وقواعدنا.
وأضاف: على إيران إما أن تختار أن تكون دولة مسؤولة أو تواصل المضي بمسار يقودها نحو الخراب.
American media revealed today (Sunday) the suspension of talks between the United States and Iran that were scheduled for this week.
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that the talks planned for this week between the United States and Iran in Switzerland have been postponed amid renewed strikes between the two countries.
Informed sources stated that the resumption of those talks was expected at the end of this week in Switzerland, but the situation has halted due to the fighting.
This comes at a time when Iranian television stated that passage through the Strait of Hormuz "still requires coordination with the Revolutionary Guard," explaining that "the safest routes for ships entering the strait are south of Hormuz Island and for ships exiting south of Lark Island."
At the same time, British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned the Iranian attacks, which she described as "reckless," on Bahrain, Kuwait, and the Strait of Hormuz.
Cooper wrote in a post on the platform "X" that the Iranian attacks endanger civilian lives and disrupt freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the importance of implementing the memorandum of understanding that Iran signed with the United States last week.
For his part, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Waltz confirmed that his country's actions will continue as needed to destroy infrastructure used by Iran to control Hormuz, clarifying that Iran is mistaken if it thinks that President Donald Trump will stand idly by while navigation and our bases are attacked.
He added: Iran must either choose to be a responsible state or continue down a path that leads it to ruin.
