لقي ثلاثة عناصر من قوات «الرينجرز» الباكستانية مصرعهم اليوم (السبت)، جراء هجوم استهدف مقراً شبه عسكري في مدينة كراتشي.
وقال المفتش العام لشرطة إقليم السند، جاويد عالم أوده، لموقع «داون» الباكستاني، إن المعلومات الأولية تشير أيضاً إلى مقتل ثلاثة من المهاجمين خلال الهجوم الذي استهدف المقر المحلي لقوات «الرينجرز»، مبيناً أن المهاجمين اقتحموا البوابة الرئيسية للمقر باستخدام مركبة.
ولفت إلى أن عملية تمشيط أمنية لا تزال جارية، فيما طوقت عناصر وحدة الأمن الخاصة، وقوة مكافحة الإرهاب، إلى جانب قوات «الرينجرز»، محيط المنطقة.
وذكرت قناتا «آري نيوز» و«جيو نيوز» الباكستانيتان أن انفجاراً وإطلاق نار وقعا على أحد الطرق الرئيسية في كراتشي، قرب عدد من الجامعات ومقر إدارة الأرصاد الجوية الباكستانية.
وأفادت قناة «داون نيوز» بأنه جرى الدفع بوحدات خاصة، من بينها قوة الاستجابة السريعة وعناصر من قوات الكوماندوز التابعة للشرطة، للسيطرة على الوضع.
من جانبه، وجّه رئيس وزراء إقليم السند، سيد مراد علي شاه، بإعداد تقرير مفصل بشأن البلاغات التي تحدثت عن وقوع انفجار وإطلاق نار قرب تقاطع موسميات، وفقاً لمتحدث باسمه.
وتُعد قوات «الرينجرز» الباكستانية قوة شبه عسكرية تابعة لوزارة الداخلية، تعمل بالتنسيق الوثيق مع الجيش، وتضطلع بمهمات الأمن الداخلي وحماية الحدود.
Three members of the Pakistani Rangers were killed today (Saturday) in an attack targeting a paramilitary headquarters in Karachi.
The Inspector General of Police in Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, told the Pakistani website "Dawn" that initial information also indicates the death of three attackers during the assault on the local Rangers headquarters, noting that the attackers breached the main gate of the headquarters using a vehicle.
He pointed out that a security sweep operation is still ongoing, while elements of the Special Security Unit and the Counter-Terrorism Force, along with the Rangers, have cordoned off the area.
Pakistani channels "ARY News" and "Geo News" reported that an explosion and gunfire occurred on one of the main roads in Karachi, near several universities and the Pakistan Meteorological Department headquarters.
Dawn News reported that special units, including the Rapid Response Force and elements from the police commandos, were deployed to control the situation.
For his part, the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, directed the preparation of a detailed report regarding reports of an explosion and gunfire near the Musimiyat intersection, according to a spokesperson.
The Pakistani Rangers are a paramilitary force under the Ministry of Interior, working in close coordination with the army, and are tasked with internal security and border protection.
