أعلنت لجنة الانتخابات الإثيوبية اليوم (الأحد) فوز حزب الازدهار الحاكم برئاسة رئيس الوزراء أبي أحمد بأغلبية برلمانية مريحة في الانتخابات التي جرت هذا الشهر.
وأوضحت رئيسة لجنة الانتخابات ميلاتورك هايلو، أن الحزب الحاكم حصل على 438 مقعداً من أصل 486 في مجلس نواب الشعب، ليحقق بذلك نحو 90% من المقاعد المتنافس عليها.
وذكرت لجنة الانتخابات أن الاستحقاق أجري في 501 دائرة من أصل 547 في البلاد، مع مشاركة نحو 40 مليون ناخب في التصويت، بينما بلغ إجمالي الناخبين المسجلين 54 مليوناً، موضحة أن مخاوف أمنية حالت دون فتح 143 مركز اقتراع في يوم الاستحقاق.
وأشارت إلى تعطل العملية الانتخابية في مواقع عديدة في إقليمي أمهرة وأوروميا، دون ذكر تفاصيل.
وخاض أكثر من 40 حزباً الانتخابات في مواجهة حزب الازدهار، لكن هذه الأحزاب تفتقر بمعظمها للدعم المالي، وفاز الحزب الحاكم في 64 دائرة دون أي منافسة، بينما خاض منافسه الأكبر حزب «إيزيما» السباق بـ293 مرشحاً، مقارنة بـ461 مرشحاً لـ«الازدهار».
وصوت الناخبون لاختيار أعضاء مجلس نواب الشعب الذين سيختارون بدورهم رئيس الوزراء، ومن المتوقع أن يجري هذا التصويت بين نهاية سبتمبر وأكتوبر القادمين.
ويعزز هذا الفوز قبضة رئيس الوزراء أبي أحمد على المشهد السياسي الإثيوبي، بعد خمس سنوات من الانتخابات التي منحت حزب الازدهار أغلبية مريحة في البرلمان، وتُعتبر هذه النتائج اختباراً لشعبية الحكومة في ظل التحديات الأمنية والاقتصادية التي شهدتها البلاد خلال السنوات الماضية، خصوصاً في إقليمي أمهرة وأوروميا، إضافة إلى تداعيات الصراعات الداخلية وجهود إعادة الاستقرار السياسي.
The Ethiopian Electoral Commission announced today (Sunday) the victory of the ruling Prosperity Party, led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with a comfortable parliamentary majority in the elections held this month.
Commission Chairwoman Melatork Haile explained that the ruling party secured 438 seats out of 486 in the House of Peoples' Representatives, achieving about 90% of the contested seats.
The Electoral Commission stated that the election took place in 501 constituencies out of 547 in the country, with around 40 million voters participating in the voting, while the total number of registered voters reached 54 million. It clarified that security concerns prevented the opening of 143 polling stations on election day.
It noted that the electoral process was disrupted in several locations in the Amhara and Oromia regions, without providing further details.
More than 40 parties contested the elections against the Prosperity Party, but most of these parties lack financial support. The ruling party won in 64 constituencies without any competition, while its largest competitor, the "Ezema" party, participated with 293 candidates, compared to 461 candidates for the "Prosperity" party.
Voters cast their ballots to choose members of the House of Peoples' Representatives, who will in turn select the Prime Minister, with this vote expected to take place between the end of September and October.
This victory strengthens Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's grip on the Ethiopian political scene, following five years of elections that granted the Prosperity Party a comfortable majority in parliament. These results are considered a test of the government's popularity amid the security and economic challenges the country has faced in recent years, particularly in the Amhara and Oromia regions, as well as the repercussions of internal conflicts and efforts to restore political stability.
