في تطور جديد، تسببت هجمات إيرانية بطائرات مسيّرة على مبنى الركاب في مطار الكويت، صباح اليوم (الأربعاء)، بأضرار جسيمة وإصابة عدد من الأشخاص، فضلاً عن تعليق الرحلات الجوية، وفق ما أوردت وكالة الأنباء الكويتية «كونا».
وقال المتحدث باسم وزارة الدفاع الكويتية، العقيد الركن سعود عبدالعزيز العطوان، إن «عدداً من الطائرات المسيّرة المعادية استهدفت اليوم مبنى الركاب (T1) بمطار الكويت الدولي نتيجة العدوان الإيراني الآثم، ما أسفر عن أضرار مادية جسيمة في المبنى وإصابة عدد من الأشخاص»، موضحاً أن المصابين تلقوا الرعاية الطبية اللازمة.
وأشار إلى أن «القوات المسلحة الكويتية تتابع الموقف بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية، وهي في حالة جاهزية تامة للتعامل مع أي مستجدات، واتخاذ جميع الإجراءات اللازمة للحفاظ على أمن البلاد واستقرارها».
بدورها، أعلنت الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني في الكويت تعليق الرحلات الجوية وتحويلها إلى مطارات بديلة حتى إشعار آخر، مع تفعيل خطة الطوارئ في مطار الكويت الدولي بعد استهداف مبنى الركاب، موضحة أن المبنى تعرض لاستهداف بطائرات مسيّرة وصواريخ إيرانية.
وأشارت الهيئة إلى أن الاستهداف خلّف أضراراً جسيمة في عدد من مرافق المطار.
من جهة أخرى، قالت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية «سنتكوم»، اليوم، إن القوات الأمريكية وقوات حلفائها تصدت لما وصفته بـ«السلوك الإيراني العدواني» خلال عمليات عسكرية جرت في 2 يونيو، شملت إسقاط عدد من الصواريخ الباليستية والطائرات المسيّرة الإيرانية، إضافة إلى تنفيذ ضربات دفاعية محدودة.
وقالت القيادة، في بيان عبر منصة «إكس»، إن القوات الأمريكية نجحت في اعتراض وإسقاط صواريخ ومسيّرات أُطلقت من إيران، إلى جانب تنفيذ ضربات على موقع عسكري في جزيرة قشم، رداً على محاولات استهداف في مناطق مختلفة من الشرق الأوسط.
وأوضحت القيادة الأمريكية أن إيران أطلقت عدة صواريخ باتجاه دول مجاورة، إلا أن بعضها فشل في الوصول إلى أهدافه، إذ سقط صاروخان كانا متجهين نحو الكويت قبل بلوغهما الهدف أو تحطما أثناء مسارهما، فيما اعترضت قوات الدفاع الجوي الأمريكية والبحرينية ثلاثة صواريخ أُطلقت باتجاه البحرين.
وأفادت القوات بأنها أسقطت أيضاً ثلاث طائرات مسيّرة هجومية إيرانية كانت تستهدف مدنيين في المياه الإقليمية، مؤكدة تنفيذ ضربات دفاعية على محطة تحكم أرضية عسكرية في جزيرة قشم.
وذكر البيان أن الهجمات الإيرانية لم تُصب أيّاً من أفراد القوات الأمريكية بأذى، مشدداً على أن القوات لا تزال في حالة جاهزية دائمة للتصدي لأي تهديدات، خصوصاً خلال فترة وقف إطلاق النار الجارية.
In a new development, Iranian drone attacks on the passenger terminal at Kuwait Airport this morning (Wednesday) caused significant damage and injured several individuals, in addition to suspending flights, according to the Kuwait News Agency "KUNA".
The spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, Colonel Saoud Abdulaziz Al-Attoun, stated that "a number of hostile drones targeted today the passenger terminal (T1) at Kuwait International Airport as a result of the heinous Iranian aggression, resulting in severe material damage to the building and injuries to several individuals," explaining that the injured received the necessary medical care.
He indicated that "the Kuwaiti armed forces are monitoring the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities and are in a state of full readiness to deal with any developments and take all necessary measures to maintain the security and stability of the country".
For its part, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Kuwait announced the suspension of flights and their diversion to alternative airports until further notice, activating the emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport after the targeting of the passenger terminal, clarifying that the terminal was subjected to attacks by drones and Iranian missiles.
The authority noted that the targeting resulted in severe damage to several airport facilities.
On another note, the U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" stated today that U.S. forces and their allies confronted what it described as "Iranian aggressive behavior" during military operations that took place on June 2, which included the interception of several ballistic missiles and Iranian drones, in addition to carrying out limited defensive strikes.
The command said in a statement via the "X" platform that U.S. forces successfully intercepted and shot down missiles and drones launched from Iran, along with conducting strikes on a military site on Qeshm Island, in response to targeting attempts in various areas of the Middle East.
The U.S. command clarified that Iran launched several missiles towards neighboring countries, but some failed to reach their targets, as two missiles headed towards Kuwait fell before reaching their target or crashed during their flight, while U.S. and Bahraini air defense forces intercepted three missiles launched towards Bahrain.
The forces reported that they also shot down three Iranian attack drones that were targeting civilians in territorial waters, confirming the execution of defensive strikes on a military ground control station on Qeshm Island.
The statement mentioned that the Iranian attacks did not harm any U.S. personnel, emphasizing that the forces remain in a state of constant readiness to confront any threats, especially during the ongoing ceasefire period.
