شهد محيط البيت الأبيض مساء السبت استنفاراً أمنياً واسعاً، بعد إطلاق عناصر جهاز الخدمة السرية الأمريكي النار على مسلح حاول استهداف المبنى الرئاسي، ما أدى إلى مقتله، فيما أُصيب شخصان خلال الحادث الذي هزّ العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن.
وقالت الخدمة السرية الأمريكية إن المسلح اقترب من بوابة الجهة الغربية للبيت الأبيض نحو الساعة السادسة مساءً، وهو يشهر مسدساً، قبل أن يطلق ثلاث طلقات باتجاه المبنى، ما دفع العناصر الأمنية إلى الرد الفوري بإطلاق النار.
مقتل المهاجم وإصابة أحد المارة
وأوضح مسؤول أمني أن شخصين أُصيبا بالرصاص خلال المواجهة، أحدهما المشتبه به الذي فارق الحياة لاحقاً بعد نقله إلى مستشفى قريب، فيما أُصيب أحد المارة أثناء تبادل إطلاق النار قرب تقاطع شارع بنسلفانيا مع الشارع السابع عشر شمال غرب واشنطن.
وأكدت السلطات أن المهاجم لم يتمكن من اختراق الطوق الأمني المحيط بالبيت الأبيض.
الرئيس داخل البيت الأبيض
وقال جهاز الخدمة السرية في بيان إن الرئيس الأمريكي كان داخل البيت الأبيض أثناء الحادث، إلا أن الواقعة «لم تؤثر على الشخصيات المشمولة بالحماية أو العمليات الأمنية»، مؤكداً في الوقت ذاته عدم تسجيل أي إصابات بين عناصره.
«FBI» يساند التحقيقات
من جهته، أعلن مدير مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي كاش باتيل أن عناصر المكتب وصلوا إلى موقع الحادث لدعم التحقيقات الجارية.
وقال عبر منصة «إكس»: «مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي موجود في الموقع ويدعم جهاز الخدمة السرية في التعامل مع حادث إطلاق النار قرب البيت الأبيض، وسنطلع الرأي العام على المستجدات حالما تتوفر».
إخلاء الصحفيين وسماع عشرات الطلقات
وبحسب شبكة «ABC»، طُلب من الصحفيين الموجودين قرب البيت الأبيض الركض سريعاً وإخلاء الموقع إلى داخل غرفة الإحاطات الصحفية.
فيما أشار مراسل لشبكة «NBC» إلى سماع ما بين 20 و30 طلقة نارية خلال الحادث، وسط انتشار أمني مكثف وإغلاق المنطقة المحيطة بالبيت الأبيض.

The U.S. Secret Service stated that the gunman approached the western gate of the White House around 6 PM, brandishing a handgun, before firing three shots towards the building, prompting security personnel to respond immediately by opening fire.
The attacker killed and a passerby injured
An security official clarified that two people were shot during the confrontation, one of whom was the suspect who later died after being transported to a nearby hospital, while a passerby was injured during the exchange of gunfire near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street Northwest in Washington.
Authorities confirmed that the attacker was unable to breach the security perimeter surrounding the White House.
The president inside the White House
The Secret Service stated in a statement that the U.S. president was inside the White House during the incident, but the event "did not affect the protected individuals or security operations," while also confirming that no injuries were reported among its personnel.
The FBI supports the investigations
For his part, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that agents from the bureau arrived at the scene to support the ongoing investigations.
He stated via the platform "X": "The FBI is on-site and supporting the Secret Service in responding to the shooting incident near the White House, and we will inform the public of updates as soon as they become available."
Evacuation of journalists and hearing dozens of gunshots
According to ABC News, journalists present near the White House were asked to quickly run and evacuate the area to a press briefing room.
Meanwhile, a reporter for NBC noted hearing between 20 and 30 gunshots during the incident, amid heavy security presence and the closure of the area surrounding the White House.
