طالبت النيابة العامة في كوريا الجنوبية، اليوم (الجمعة)، بسجن الرئيس السابق يون سوك يول لمدة 30 عاما، بتهمة «تقديم منفعة للعدو»، على خلفية مزاعم بإرساله طائرات مسيّرة عسكرية فوق عاصمة كوريا الشمالية بيونغ يانغ عام 2024.
وأعلنت وكالة أنباء يونهاب الكورية الجنوبية أن فريق ادعاء خاص مكلف بالقضية طالب بالحكم على وزير الدفاع السابق كيم يونغ هيون بالسجن 25 عاما بموجب الاتهامات نفسها.
ويواجه الرئيس السابق اتهامات بإرسال المسيّرات بهدف تحفيز رد انتقامي من كوريا الشمالية، وخلق ذريعة تبرر إعلانه الأحكام العرفية في أواخر عام 2024.
وتأتي هذه المطالبات من قبل النيابة العامة، في المراحل الأخيرة من محاكمة يون في محكمة سول الجزئية المركزية، بعد أن صدر حكم بحقه في يناير الماضي، يقضي بسجنه 5 سنوات، عقب إدانته في واحدة من 8 قضايا جنائية يواجهها.
ويواجه يون، الذي عُزل في أبريل من العام الماضي، سلسلة من المحاكمات الجنائية على خلفية فرضه الأحكام العرفية، وفضائح أخرى تتعلق بفترة رئاسته، وتصل في أخطر هذه القضايا إلى تهمة «قيادة تمرد مسلح»، وهي جريمة قد تصل عقوبتها القصوى إلى الإعدام بموجب القانون.
يذكر أن الرئيس السابق أعلن في الثالث من ديسمبر2024 الأحكام العرفية في البلاد، بهدف القضاء على القوى الموالية لكوريا الشمالية، والحفاظ على الحرية والنظام الدستوري في البلاد، واتهم المعارضة بالتورط في أنشطة مناهضة للدولة.
وعقب الإعلان، عقد البرلمان جلسة طارئة، أصدر بعدها بيانا أعلن فيه إلغاء الأحكام العرفية إثر تصويت النواب، ليقر البرلمان عزل يون يوم 14 من الشهر نفسه، وهو القرار الذي تم تنفيذه بعد تأييده من قبل المحكمة الدستورية.
The South Korean prosecution demanded today (Friday) a 30-year prison sentence for former President Yoon Suk-yeol on charges of "providing benefits to the enemy," following allegations that he sent military drones over North Korea's capital, Pyongyang, in 2024.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that a special prosecution team assigned to the case requested a 25-year prison sentence for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun on the same charges.
Former President Yoon faces allegations of sending the drones to provoke a retaliatory response from North Korea and to create a pretext for declaring martial law in late 2024.
These demands from the prosecution come during the final stages of Yoon's trial in the Seoul Central District Court, after he was sentenced to 5 years in January for being convicted in one of the 8 criminal cases he faces.
Yoon, who was ousted in April of last year, is facing a series of criminal trials related to his imposition of martial law and other scandals during his presidency, with the most serious of these cases involving the charge of "leading an armed rebellion," a crime that could carry the death penalty under the law.
It is worth mentioning that the former president declared martial law in the country on December 3, 2024, aiming to eliminate pro-North Korean forces and to maintain freedom and constitutional order in the country, accusing the opposition of involvement in anti-state activities.
Following the announcement, the parliament held an emergency session, after which it issued a statement declaring the cancellation of martial law following a vote by the lawmakers, leading the parliament to approve Yoon's impeachment on the 14th of the same month, a decision that was implemented after being upheld by the Constitutional Court.
