توقع مسؤول عسكري إسرائيلي، اليوم (الخميس)، إعلان وقف إطلاق النار في لبنان مساء اليوم، وذلك بعد اتصال هاتفي أجراه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بالرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون.
ونقل موقع «أكسيوس» الأمريكي عن مسؤول عسكري إسرائيلي قوله إن إعلاناً لوقف إطلاق النار قد يصدر مساء الخميس بشأن لبنان.
وأوضح أن الوضع عند مفترق طرق، مؤكداً أن لا شيء نهائياً بعد، لكنه قد يحدث اليوم.
وكانت الرئاسة اللبنانية قد قالت إن الرئيس جوزيف عون أجرى اتصالاً هاتفياً مع نظيره الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، أعرب خلاله عن شكره بشأن الجهود التي تبذلها الولايات المتحدة من أجل التوصل إلى وقف لإطلاق النار في لبنان.
ودعا عون الرئيس الأمريكي لبذل جهود لوقف إطلاق النار في أقرب وقت ممكن.
من جانبه، أكد ترمب دعمه للرئيس عون وللبنان، مشدداً على التزامه بالاستجابة للطلب اللبناني والعمل على تحقيق وقف إطلاق النار في أقرب وقت، بحسب بيان الرئاسة اللبنانية.
وكان عون قد شدد في وقت سابق اليوم على أن وقف إطلاق النار يشكل المدخل الطبيعي لأي مفاوضات مباشرة بين لبنان وإسرائيل، مؤكداً أن التفاوض مسألة سيادية تتولاها السلطات اللبنانية حصراً.
ولفت إلى أن لبنان حريص على وقف التصعيد في الجنوب وسائر المناطق، لحماية المدنيين ووقف تدمير القرى والبلدات، مشيراً إلى أن انسحاب القوات الإسرائيلية من الأراضي اللبنانية يمثل خطوة أساسية لتثبيت الهدنة وإعادة انتشار الجيش اللبناني حتى الحدود الدولية وبسط سلطة الدولة.
An Israeli military official predicted today (Thursday) that a ceasefire announcement in Lebanon could be made this evening, following a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
The American website "Axios" reported that an Israeli military official stated that a ceasefire announcement might be issued on Thursday regarding Lebanon.
He explained that the situation is at a crossroads, emphasizing that nothing is final yet, but it could happen today.
The Lebanese presidency had stated that President Joseph Aoun had a phone call with his American counterpart Donald Trump, during which he expressed his gratitude for the efforts being made by the United States to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Aoun urged the American president to make efforts to establish a ceasefire as soon as possible.
For his part, Trump confirmed his support for President Aoun and for Lebanon, stressing his commitment to responding to the Lebanese request and working towards achieving a ceasefire as soon as possible, according to a statement from the Lebanese presidency.
Aoun had emphasized earlier today that a ceasefire represents the natural entry point for any direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, asserting that negotiations are a sovereign matter that is exclusively handled by the Lebanese authorities.
He pointed out that Lebanon is keen on stopping the escalation in the south and all other areas, to protect civilians and halt the destruction of villages and towns, indicating that the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory is a fundamental step to solidify the truce and allow the Lebanese army to redeploy to the international borders and establish state authority.
