أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب فجر اليوم (السبت) أن البحرية الأمريكية تعتزم البدء قريبًا جدًا في مرافقة ناقلات النفط أثناء عبورها مضيق هرمز، في خطوة تهدف إلى تعزيز أمن الملاحة في هذا الممر البحري الحيوي.
أهمية المضيق
ويُعد المضيق أحد أهم الممرات الاستراتيجية في العالم، إذ يمر عبره نحو 20% من إمدادات النفط العالمية يوميًا، وفق ما أوردته صحيفة The Wall Street Journal، في ظل تصاعد التوترات والهجمات التي نُسبت إلى إيران في المنطقة.
تأكيد قرب تنفيذ الخطة
ورداً على أسئلة الصحفيين بشأن موعد بدء تنفيذ هذه الخطوة، قال ترمب: «سيحدث ذلك قريبًا جدًا»، دون أن يقدم إطارًا زمنيًا دقيقًا لبدء عمليات المرافقة العسكرية.
تحذير من استهداف منشآت إيرانية
وكان ترمب قد لوّح في وقت سابق بإمكانية استهداف منشآت حيوية في Kharg Island، التي وصفها بأنها «درة تاج» الاقتصاد الإيراني، في حال استمرت طهران في عرقلة حركة الملاحة في مضيق هرمز.

Warning Against Targeting Iranian Facilities
Earlier, Trump had hinted at the possibility of targeting vital facilities on Kharg Island, which he described as the "crown jewel" of the Iranian economy, if Tehran continued to obstruct navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
